My Question or Issue

I signed up and paid for a premium account through my sons phone can I upgrade to a premium family account with my phone being the master (I know I could just cancel the account on my sons phone but will he lose his play list in the change over?) with out too much difficulty or is it simpler to do the above

Hey, welcome to the Spotify Community!

Yes, you can upgrade to the Premium Family Plan without losing playlists, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Direct upgrade:

You can upgrade your current account (which was created on your child's phone) to the Premium Family Plan.
This will keep all of your playlists, saved songs, and account settings.
You can then add your own email as the family manager and add up to 5 family members to the plan.

2. Create a new account and cancel your current one:

If you prefer to create a new account on your phone and subscribe to the Premium Family Plan, the catch is that your old account will lose access to Premium.

Your child can manually transfer playlists by copying the songs to a new playlist on their new account.

📌 Recommended solution: The easiest way is to simply upgrade directly on your current account. That way, everything will continue to work as normal.

If you need any help, let me know! 😊
