My wife and I want to share an account.  We like the same music.  Can we do this on an individual plan?  That is, have Spotify apps open at the same time on different devices in our home and phones?

And... is there not a yearly pay offering for individual plans?  Paying monthly and balancing cc accounts all the time is a pain.

Hi there @Laurelton,

thanks for reaching out to the community !

Essentially, having two users on the same account using the same credentials to log in on different devices isn't ideal, might cause issues with the account and in general isn't recommended.

However, Spotify offers a variety of subscriptions which vary between countries around the world.

If you could kindly mention your country of origin i would love to provide you with any information regarding these subscriptions and recommend the best one for you.

Hope this shed some light.

Keep me posted 🙂

Thanks for the reply.  USA.  We're retired so we're around each other most of the time.  🙂

What kind of "issues" are you referring to?

Thanks.

You can't play different music on two different devices at the same time.

And... technically, what you are talking about could be a violation of the terms of service. The user guidelines say that you cannot give your password to any other person. There is no exception to this rule for spouses or family members.

The individual premium account is designed to be used by an individual, and that means one person.

Spotify offers a family account in the USA for 14.99 that allows up to six users living at the same address. Each user gets their own account within the plan. One user--the person who sets up the account--is the master user, and they invite (or remove) other people to join the plan. Each user has to set up their own account within the plan, using their own e-mail address and their own password.

Thank you for the reply.

We won't be going to Premium then. It just won't work for us in our simple
household.

Best.

Hey @Laurelton,

Thanks for posting your question!

You and your wife can share the same Spotify subscription while also being entitled to and accessing your own personal accounts, one for you and one for her. That's Premium Family

This way, you'll be able, for example,to access your own Spotify account with your mobile device while also connecting it to a Bluetooth speaker and your wife will be able to do the same. So, ultimately, you'll be both able to listen to your music at the same time.

Hope this helps you take the best decision for you 🙂

Thanks. Since about 98% of the time we use multi-room whole-house music, we opted for an individual plan. I know that in today's world of personal devices that's not considered mainstream but, for us, we listen to music together, and we like the same genres. It works better than each of us crafting almost identical personal accounts. We're retired and we're not off running around separately to jobs, etc.

Hey @Laurelton

If you're just looking for a way to listen to music at home and don't have need to listen to two different things at the same time, then feel free to use a single Premium subscription.

There is no problem if a different person from your household can hear your music.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.
