Deleting account & can't reuse username with Spotify? CLARIFICATION needed please!

My Question or Issue

Hi Community,

I just opened a Premium Duo account, giving a Spotify subscription as a gift for a friend. To keep it a surprise, I registered the new account under my secondary email address until I gave it to them, when I could then change the account's email address to theirs.

Turns out my friend actually had a Spotify account registered to their email address (therefore, couldn't apply it to the new one I created), but inactive (not Premium, no songs, playlists, etc.). To free up their email address, I proposed to delete their old/inactive account, and then apply their email address to the account I created for them.

When we attempted to delete their old account, we got a warning message about "this username can never be used with Spotify again." I wanted to confirm with the Community, this is referring to the "Ux90shi789yhJ...." term, correct; NOT the account's associated email address? I've attached a picture below for reference of what I'm referring to.

Yup, the username, and email address are two different things 🙂 After closing the account, it will take 14-30 days for the email address to become available for sign-up again.
