Duo does not recognise our address so can’t accept invite

Duo does not recognise our address so can’t accept invite

My wife used here solo account for years and upgraded to Duo so I could join. But her Duo account doesn’t recognise our house name (even though Google does). She used one of the suggested addresses, which Spotify accepted, and I’ve used the identical address (about 6 attempts now) and every time I get told there’s an error.

First, why doesn’t Spotify use industry standard addresses that banks and others we purchase from use, including our house name? Second, how can I get access to our Duo account as am presently locked out?

Thanks.

Hey @Quidnunc ,

Please share the exact error message that you're seeing. 🙂

The address used, again, is exactly the same as my wife’s account. Notwithstanding that address doesn’t recognise our house name, only the road, not our community (New Passage), but other communities that are some distance away from our our postcode. I don’t really care provided there’s an easy solution.

Thanks for getting back, @Quidnunc!

Do you currently have any sort of paid plan, such as Premium, Premium Duo or Premium Family yourself? If so, what payment method are you using to pay for it?

Looking forward to your response 🙂

As stated before, my wife had a single user plan and extended this to Duo. This generated the link for me to join. I already had a free (rarely used) Spotify account which is what I’m trying to link to Duo. My wife’s account also confirmed the increased payment due at next renewal. That all seems to be good.

The problem is that Spotify uses some bizarre address database that cannot find our community/hamlet (New Passage) or the house name. It recognises our post code but only allows the street name which nobody uses, not even the post office.

My wife can only confirm an address which will be common to about 10 properties using the same postcode- maybe that’s the issue. Nothing we tried on her account would recognise our house.

And if I use the exact same address she had to enter (I.e. without the house name), the error message is generated.

Hey @Quidnunc ,

Thanks for letting me know.

Can you please ask the owner (your wife) of the Premium Duo plan to update the address end from her account page, to the format it's being adjusted to?

Once the address has been updated to the suggested format, you can try accepting the invite using your account while you're in an incognito window.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Yep, the address she uses is the only one Spotify will accept. I opened the invite link in an InPrivate window on Edge and used EXACTLY the same address down to the last comma, space etc. as her account profile.

It does NOT work. There must be another way. The Spotify address book is wrong.

Hey @Quidnunc ,

Thanks for getting back.

In this case, it's best to reach out to Support about this issue. Make sure to tell them everything you've tried so far 🙂
