Gift cards discontinued

Gift cards discontinued

Well I believe I am done with spotify. I searched high and low to find a gift card ( for myself and kids) and found nothing. It would have been great if they had told me in advance that they had discontinued them. Then maybe with no debit card at the moment I could have found other ways of paying. But that's not what happened and now my premium is gone. As well as the fact it was gone the 20th I would have thought that it would have been gone on the 20th at like midnight. And apparently they are experimenting only in the USA.

Later Spotify it was nice while it lasted

Hey @Shockme13, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I am sorry to hear that you are leaving Spotify. Yes, Spotify has made the decision to discontinue the use of gift cards, and there's more information about this here. I will make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks as Spotify aims to improve over time.

An alternative if you still wish to use Spotify is to purchase a Visa gift card, and then you can add that as a payment method to be used to pay for Premium.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Definitely a bad move for Spotify. It’s been a frequent birthday and Christmas gift option for my kids to receive Spotify gift cards. Now you’re forcing people to use their credit cards or debit cards and hope they can remember to cancel on time if they choose to do it for a certain period of time - 3 months, 6 months. Bad move.

Raising the price of the gift cards would have been preferable to a fixed recurring bill for me.  Done with Spotify.

The price or saving wasn't even the main attraction for me. I liked being able to pay for a year in advance so that it's "bought and paid for" and so that I don't think about it every month, weigh up whether I'm getting enough use out of it to justify the cost, etc. It was a weight off my mind.

Now with monthly payments I'm more likely to cancel. So kudos to Spotify for that.

Same here. I simply dont like to give cc details. I guess i have to switch over to another provider
