My Question or Issue

I keep getting annoying popups when I open the app, usually for podcast or new music from someone I don't even listen too.

How do I get these to stop? They're seriously annoying. If I wanted to listen to this stuff Id do it myself, I don't need or want these stupid recommendations. Pretty sure this technically falls under the definition of an advert? Bit misleading to say premium has no ads when all you are doing is swapping them with your own. This is the same reason I left deezer years ago and now Spotify is doing the same.

How do I turn these off? Had a look in settings but couldn't see anything. Thanks.

I just want to say that you are SPOT ON.  Do not **bleep** on my leg and tell me it's raining.  I see you, asshats.  What you're doing is wrong, and if we don't punish wrong on the small things, they will quickly become the big things.  See: United States of America.

Just got a "suggestion" today asking if I wanted to try audio books.  STOP MAKING SUGGESTIONS, Spotify!!!   I. Am. Paying. For. No. Ads.

Newsflash:  Suggestions are ads.  I would rather you come out and say you're douchbags than act like there's a difference. At least then I could respect you.

I want my six **bleep**ing years worth of Premium subscription money back, with interst, you lying sacks**bleep**.

Very well written, fjffjj!  The world needs more who think like you do and who can express the truth to the masses in a way that makes it more palatable to those who will gobble up anything the unethical advertisers throw at them.  Modern online "society" really has become a cesspool, and nothing like what we were attempting to build over the past 50 years.  😞

NO!  We pay $$$ to NOT have advertising.  Do not "accept" ANY advertising!  Don't even give them an inch, because they'll take the mile, and they say, "Well, they gave us a mile!  Let's take the entire trip!"   Evil Bastards!  😠

The ZERO likes for every pandering "reply" from Spotify speaks volumes.  STOP ABUSING YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS, SPOTIFY!!  🤬

This problem is getting worse. Please provide a way to disable this “feature.” It degrades the user experience. Recommended content should be suggested without friction, this is a dark pattern. Allow people who pay for the app to opt out of this behavior. I am dissatisfied.

This is getting worse and worse. Navigating the app for about 5 minutes and I’ve already experienced a full screen ad and a notification like ad at the top of the screen when I have notifications turned off. It makes navigating this app horrible. You never know when you will be interrupted with information you don’t want. Truly the worst of the worst of pop ups ads. I have held on to Spotify for so long but this is the last straw. Give me an option to turn off all pop ups in app.

I agree with this topic. I found it so annoying that I unfollowed every single artist, just to get rid of the popups. Not because I don't like the artists, but because of your UI design choices.

Does “UNfollowing” everyone eliminate all the stupid BS advertising??  I doubt it, since a lot of it has nothing to do with “artists” at all, and it’s just an obvious money grab by Spotify, against customers from whom they are already earning money!  EVIL BASTARDS!!

At least Spotify doesn’t foist its hegemony on me like Apple does. The only way to listen on Apple without being inundated by **bleep** is to listen to ONLY country & western and classical.
I wish there were a decent program to just let me play. MY record collection on MY phone.  No Internet, no giving up my personal data, no getting advertised at… Just music.
