I never even used the trial version! Spotify claims i used the free trial already

I never even used the trial version! Spotify claims i used the free trial already

I'm starting to get very frustrated with Spotify and how difficult it is to use this that If my trial ever finishes i might not even sign up.

I signed up using my email address: *snip*
it worked i then proceeded to the Prime trial where i get unlimited music and Spotify incorrectly claims that I have signed up and used this trial before! This is outrageous because its a brand new email address that i signed up. I never even got to test your stupid song playlist and then you tell me i have used the trial already.

Can someone please look into my account and see what is going on???

thanks

Hey @TheriusValor,

Thanks for posting here.

If you're trying to subscribe to a trial offer for new users, keep in mind that we do a check to confirm if you haven't used Premium before.

Most likely you have another account already. Our support team will be able to help you identify it by using your payment details.

If you just want to start using a new account, you'll be able to subscribe regularly by using this link.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Bro, I’m having a problem with my account, it says i’ve had a trial for premium before when trying to redeem the free 3 month code i got from Microsoft but it didn’t allow it. I’ve never had premium on my account nor the trial.

Hi there!

Thanks for the response. I have tried different payment methods but it says the same thing every time. Just trying to know what may be the cause of it.

Thanks.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your replies.

If you've checked @Alex's reply and the payment method you're trying to use meets all the requirements that he mentioned, we'd recommend that you take the steps that @MihailY and @Kiril suggested.

As much as we'd like to help further, we can't make any account related actions here in the Community as we don't have access to such systems and tools. However, our teams should be able to check what's going on and what might be causing this.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂

How are you? I have the same error but it keeps telling me the same thing, that I already tried the "demo", I only have one card, is that why? Previously I tried to buy premium with the same card to an old free account where I did try the premium version for a certain time for free

Hey Spotify,

I recently applied for the Spotify Premium Free Trial but once I bought it, it didn’t show on any of my accounts that I did and I’m not receiving any of the benefits of having Premium. I checked my account and went to cancel it but since it shows that I’m still on the free version I can’t find it. Is there another way to cancel it that’s not through my account?

After a bit more looking around, I think the reason my account is not working is because me and my brother used the same card to sign up for Premium and I’m assuming Spotify’s blocked my account because it think I made a spam account. But it still doesn’t show on my account the payment details so I can’t cancel it on Spotify.

Hey folks!

Could you try subscribing again using this link? If the issue persists, I'd recommend using another payment method.

@myducklikestea, sounds like your brother got the trial first, so you can't use the same card for a new trial on your account. It's best you check with him, but if you suspect that you have another Spotify account, you can locate it by following the steps here.

Cheers!

Thank you, but is there a way for me to cancel my subscription so that after my free trial I don’t get charged since I can’t cancel it through my actual Spotify account because my brother got the trial first and it doesn’t show on my account that I bought the Premium free trial when I have the receipt for it?

Hi @myducklikestea,

Thanks for the reply. It's not exactly clear what you mean, but in any case, simply double check your own account page. If you see a Premium subscription, then you have actually subscribed and can cancel that plan right away, meaning you won't be charged again. If you see that your account is on free, then you have no subscription to cancel. Then, it's most likely that your brother has the only active subscription on his account and he needs to cancel it there.

Hope this clears things up.

Oh, thank you for the clarification! I have checked my account again and it still shows that I’m on the free version. I was concerned that I would get charged since my receipt says that the free trial would end on March 24 and I’ll start getting charged. Thank you so much!

Hi @myducklikestea

Thanks for keeping in touch.

If you checked all possible accounts, we'd suggest checking the info on your receipt. Receipts are sent by Spotify directly to the email linked to your account, and they include the username. So try logging out and back in, making sure you use that email or username.

If you're still unsure, you can also contact our Support team and they'll help you check.

We'll be here in case you have any questions.

Hey Spotify, this is my first time subscribing to the premium plan, but after many tries, I still get "It looks like you’ve taken a trial before, which means you aren’t eligible for this offer. But you can still get Premium Student." However, I have paid for my friend's account using my card for her individual plan. (i've already canceled my card on her account). I understand that she might've gotten the free trial from the plan which is why you guys aren't allowing it for my account. But I don't want the free trial, I just want to be able to subscribe to my student plan. I don't have any other payment method. pls help, thanks 🙂

Hey @skaaa,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

If your account has never tried Premium before, the system will recognize it as eligible and will prioritize the trial, but you cannot use the same card you've used on a different account to get Premium. But not to worry, you should be able to subscribe to Premium Student bypassing the trial by using this link.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
