Just started the one month free trial, if I redeem a gift card will it go away?

I just redeemed the current one month free trial, and I also bought a one month gift card for the basic premium plan.

If I were to redeem the gift card right now would my free trial go away? I go to redeem the gift card and "If you redeem this code you won't be eligible for our other offers or a free trial." pops up, which is making me skeptical.

If you signed up for a free trial, the whole month will still apply to your account even if you redeem the gift card. 

It is correct that after redeeming it you won't be eligible for another free trial, but the one you already signed up for will be respected.

So if I signed up for the 3-month free premium trial first, then immediately added 6-months by redeeming a premium gift card, will I get 9 months total of Spotify premium?

Thanks for your post and welcome in the Community!

If you've started a trial for an individual Premium subscription, then there should be no problem to add the time from the gift card as well. The Premium time will be loaded up to your account, however it will be used up after your initial trial expires. Keep in mind that gift cards can only be applied on a free account or Premium Individual subscription. They cannot be redeemed for any other subscriptions or bundles.

Also, note that if you apply the gift card first, then you'll be no more eligible for taking advantage of our trial offer.

I am in exactly the situation right now. Started a 3-month free trial Individual Premium, few days later tried to redeem a gift card (6 month), got the message saying "You can't apply this Premium code to your account. This is likely because you have an existing Premium subscription that cannot be combined with a Premium code."  

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks for the post and welcome to the Community!

You're seeing this error message, because you're trying to apply a gift card while in a trial subscription. 

You'd need to wait until your 3-month trial is over, after that you should be able to apply the gift card. Note that when you apply the gift card, your next billing date will be pushed by 6 months.

thanks for the reply, but everywhere i read, include Kiril's post above, all say i should be able to redeem gift card after trial premium started, and the period in the card should just be added to the trial period. 

Did I miss something here?

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my previous post. You can see this stated on Spotify's support page for using Gift cards here. 

The Note states: "Note: You can’t apply a gift card on discounted plans like Premium Student, Premium Family, Premium Duo, or trial offers." 

Since you're currently on a trial of the Premium subscription, you won't be able to apply the gift card. Once your account switches to the regular Premium Individual, when the 3 months trial ends, you should be able to redeem the card.

That wasn't my experience at all. I was given a 3 month trial, and input my 1 year gift card, only to see the trial go away entirely. Please beware!!!
