NUS broken?

Recently has to change payment and when it asks to reaffirm my NUS number it says something went wrong and won't finalise the card update method. Is there a way to fix this. The NUS is definitely in date, it doesn't run out until 2019.

NUS is currently unavailable for the student discount. For now, you'll need to sign up for the discount using UNiDAYS.

No it doesn't 'help' with anything. Not everyone who is a student is on a full time course with an email address so we can't sign up for unidays.  Some of us study around work and over different periods of time but are in the same financial position and taking away student discount is not ok.  You're losing a lot of money, not making more with this move.
