I just got ads while listening to a music playlist.
I’m getting ads for music and I’m on Spotify premium
I am a student and I like to use Spotify mini (weekly). But even when my plan is active, when I listen through the Spotify Windows App, it shows and plays ads. It's very inconvenient. Why do I get ads (yes, actual ads, not host-reads or sponsorship in podcasts or stuff) even when I have paid for premium?
Hello, I have the same problem, it happened in 2 different account and both has the same problem. Ads playing in playlist music. I already bought premium for both account and even bought another premium package after the ads told me to purchase for premium. But the ads wont go away. Its so annoying please help.
Hey folks.
We moved your posts and created a separate thread so we can better investigate the issue at hand.
In order to help out with this we’re going to need some more information regarding the circumstances under which you are experiencing this.
- Could you please share with us what list you were listening on.
- Do you experience this on one device or multiple, and if so could you share with us what devices and the versions of the Operating Systems they are running
- When did this start happening?
Lastly it would be very helpful for us to have a video of the issue in action. That way if needed we can forward it internally to be looked into.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for your responses.

Also @kingsp20,
Something we forgot to mention in the previous post in the thread regarding the Premium Mini plan. As of this month there are changes to the Plan which limit the use to one mobile device. That would be why you are unable to listen through the Windows App.
Hope this cleared things up on that question.
We're on the lookout for your responses.
Hi! Using a tablet for spotify mini and it has ads which ever playlist he plays. DJ, spotify playlist or any other, it still play ads. What to do.
Hey @madridcecill,
Thank you for the question,
We should have mentioned in the previous post the clarification of what the Mobile experience is. As of March 2024 the Premium Mini plan is marketed as a mobile-only experience so access is limited to mobile devices, which does not include tablets. That would be the reason why ads come up for you when using your tablet.
Hope this cleared things up.
I am having issues with ads playing on podcasts as well. It is so annoying that I am considering cancelling my premium. I love the software so much that I have not done that yet. However, I am so frustrated with experiencing this issue.
I have premium family.
The errors happen when using my phone to cast to my truck when driving. The system will work correctly for a period of time (days) with no ads. I am running through a particular podcast series so I am not changing anything there. Then I will start to get an ad at the end of the podcast (the podcast series has short episodes - 4-5 minutes). The next podcast will start to play but the volume is now muted. I have no control over the volume. The only method I have found to get the volume back is I stop the truck and open my phone. I close the ap and reopen it. The system starts working again and starts the podcast. At the end, it plays another ad with volume and when complete the next podcast starts and the volume goes to zero again. This problem goes away sometimes and things work as expected for several days. Then, the issue starts again. I thought I had a solution at one point. When leaving from my house. I experience the issue. When I get to work, I open Spotify from my desktop and load the queue. The issue appeared to go away for the rest of the day as I went into and out of my truck several times. The issue started up again the next morning when I started from home. However, the results are inconclusive. I experienced the issue from home when mowing the lawn. I had to stop at the end of each podcast and close the app and reopen it to avoid the ads.
I also thought I had a fix at one point. The queue was empty so I loaded it up from a laptop with items. The problem disappeared for awhile (days). Then, suddenly reappeared. It seemed to reappear after my queue emptied. However, I loaded the queue again and am still experiencing the issue. I may be onto something here but have not pinned down the variables or sequence.
I have had this issue occur on multiple podcast series. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra as my main playing device. I have not experienced this issue when playing from a laptop.
If I ignore the issue when it goes into the mute mode, the podcast will play. I can see this by the display screen on my truck. At the end of the podcast, the system will just stop and not proceed to the next episode. It will just stop and continue to display the data for the podcast that has just finished.
I'm also having the same problem. I have premiun family and in the middle of the podcast, at the beginning and sometimes at the end, ads come on (not related to the podcast).
The podcast I listen to most often is “História em Meia Hora”.
I have an iphone 13 pro max - updated operating system iOS 17.5.1.
This has been happening for a few months now.
There is a new ad situation on Spotify even for premium users. The pre-recorded ads within podcasts were tolerable but this is not. When I unsubscribe you will know why
Hey @JMac35-, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Spotify doesn’t play ads that interrupt the music listening experience, however, some podcasts may include advertising, host-read endorsements, or sponsorship messages. There’s more info about this here.
I hope this helps. I'll be here if you need a hand with anything else!
