Spotify Duo: (same) address of my wife not accepted

Spotify Duo: (same) address of my wife not accepted

I changed my Premium account to a Premium Duo account today and immediately thereafter sent an invitation to my wife. She has entered EXACTLY  the same address as mine, but Spotify rejects and keeps telling "It looks like you're trying to join Duo from a different country" (see screenshot).

How that's possible and what can we do about it?

The only thing I can think of is that we both live together in Belgium and that in my account profile the country "Luxembourg" is indicated. That's because I work and got my phone there and started using Spotify a couple of years ago when the phone company offerered a six-months free Premium trial which I continued personnaly thereafter.

But nevertheless, I do not really understand why that should prevent my wife to enter the Duo account as we both indicate the eaxct same living address.

So please help.

Hey @ttrikki ,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

You'll need to make sure that both accounts have the same country setting set. This can be checked at https://spotify.com/account.

If it doesn't match, you can learn how to update your country setting at https://support.spotify.com/article/country-region-settings/.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Thanks for your reply.
Well, I had a lot of emails going back and forth with Spotify support: they asked me to change the country setting attached to my payment method. This country is Luxembourg as I work there and got my Spotify 6-month trial there (which I continued as a paid Premium account thereafter). This is totally legit and has absolutely nothing to do with where my wife and I live (in Belgium) so I do not undertstand why Spotify puts a check on that.
Anyway, I did what they asked for (but in the process I was forced to change my payment method at the same time which doesn't really suit me ...). According to Spotify support I now have to wait until the next pament date of Ocrober 13 before my wife can join the Duo account. I cross my fingers it will work.

MY DUO PREMIUM PERSON IS STILL RECEIVING ADVERTISEMENTS - WHY/

Your Duo Account person should check in her profile that it says PREMIUM and perhaps try a log out / log in operation.

That said, with us the Premium Duo Account only took effect at the subscription payment date so maybe you should just wait until the next subscription payment is done.

Hope this helps.
