My Question or Issue

My partner and I shared a Premium Duo plan, but temporarily paused it for two days. I am now trying to re-join using a new invite link however I repeatedly end up on a screen that says "There was a problem".

I've tried logging out of spotify on my phone, and just using my computer. I've been getting this message for the last two days.

Our account addresses match and I am typing in the exact same address as her after accepting her invite.

Hey @anishbadwe,

Thanks for reaching out.

Are you currently on the Free plan? You can check this at https://spotify.com/account.

Let me know! 🙂

Hello Maxim, when I check that page it says I am on Premium Duo. But it also shows that I am the "Plan Manager", which I am not. My partner who is inviting me should be.

Hey @anishbadwe,

Thanks for letting me know.

Did you make sure you're logged into your own account (instead of your partners account) when checking that page?

What does the page say when your partner logs into it?

Hello Maxim, thank you for you reply.

Yes, I made sure I was logged into my own account. The strange thing about my issue is that, when I log in I see that I am on a premium duo plan and that it will renew on my partner's credit card. It is strange, because when I check my payment methods, I see none. Probably because I removed all payment methods a few years back when my partner started paying for it. What's even stranger is that when I check my payment history (I've been on Spotify since 2014), I see my partner's payment history on my account. We've been sharing Spotify plans since 2019, but I shouldn't be seeing her credit card on my account nor her transactions on my account.
When my partner logs in, it shows that she is on Premium Duo with her plan renewing on that same credit card of hers. It also tells her that she can invite someone, and she has tried inviting me several times.

Perhaps I'm describing a much bigger issue, but I'd really just like to be able to join the Premium Duo account that my partner is inviting me to.

Hey again, @anishbadwe,

I agree, that's very strange. The only thing I could think of is that maybe your partner first subscribed to Premium Duo through your account and then through theirs as well, but that wouldn't explain why you're seeing their order history.

I'm not sure if it's worth looking into this issue if your only goal is to join the Premium Duo plan of your partner, though.

To join it, you'll first need to cancel your own subscription and wait until it has ended. Once you're on the Free plan, you should be able to accept the invite 🙂

Hello again Maxim,

You are actually correct. I was previously the plan manager of our Duo, and then she took over at some point. But I don't think I should be seeing her credit card on my account and her bills simply because of that.

Either ways, with the goal of being able to join a duo plan with her invite. I have cancelled my premium duo, and tomorrow I should be switching to the free plan. Once I am on the free plan, hopefully her invite will work!

If it doesn't work, I hope you don't mind if I come back here to ask you for further help 🙂

Hey @anishbadwe,

The card was definitely using for starting the subscription on your account if you're seeing it there. 🙂 But that still doesn't explain why you're seeing the order history of a different account.

Yeah, feel free to reach back out in case the join issue persists 🙂
