Unable to purchase Audiobooks included in premium library

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I'm having an issue with purchasing an audiobook. If it is included in the premium library, there is no option to purchase the audiobook and instead I'm prompted to top up my listening time. However, I don't want to do that because my daughter enjoys listening to the same book multiple times, especially as she falls asleep to it.

I believe that imposing a limit on listening times for audiobooks is a dreadful decision. However since there is a limit, I'd like to purchase the audiobook so my daughter can enjoy it without interruptions, as your help pages suggest it's possible. However, when the audiobook is part of the premium library, this option doesn't seem to work.

Any help with this would be appreciated

If the audiobook you're trying to purchase is included in Premium, you, unfortunately, won't be able to purchase it. I'll make sure to pass your feedback onto the right team at Spotify, though. 🙂

Hi Maxim,

Thanks for clearing that up. That is incredibly frustrating and I really believe that imposing a limit on listening times is a model that just does not work with audiobooks. For example if I were to listen to my favourite book, The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, I would have to top up at least an extra 2 times paying an extra £20 for the privilege and I would not even own the audiobook by the end.

I realize that you are not a spotify employee, but not sure why the manager of the duo premuim account cannot buy the audiobook yet the duo premium member of the account can. Doesn't make a lot of sense. Please pass this on to the powers that be.

This is genuinely ridiculous. I've just finished my 15 hours included in premium and want to continue with the book I was listening to. I cannot purchase it because it's included in premium, so the only way to continue listening is to pay £9 for 10 additional hours (which wouldn't even get me to the end of the book), AND costs more than buying the entire audiobook on Audible....? Silly business model. Goodbye spotify

Funnily enough I came here looking for a solution for this exact same problem for The Way of Kings ! Heading over to Audible now

Over a year later this is still not fixed; premium users still cannot purchase audiobooks.

i would far prefer to buy audio books in Spotify instead of other services - but now i am forced to use either Google Play or Audible. Seriously a shame, especially for already paying customers.
