Add to other playlist button not saving changes

Add to other playlist button not saving changes

My Question or Issue:

When I click on the plus button to adjust what playlist(s) a song is saved in, I am able to complete my changes but very frequently the changes are not saved or applied to the song. This is a newer issue, now that there is no "save changes" button to click on. I have many playlists categorized by time & genre, so many of my songs go in more than one playlist, which has suddenly become an issue with this update. In addition, when I am adding a song to other playlists, I am unable to remove the song from a playlist at the same time when I used to be able to do all of this with one step. Now the only way to remove a song is to use specifically the "remove from this playlist" button.

I have the same issue since the new UI update. It's very frustrating. Adding a song to multiple playlists will only add the first playlist I select. Please fix this Spotify. Please!

Ive always swiped down (not using the back button whatsoever) and it still doesnt save my songs to the desired playlists (just one).

I've reached out to support several times, and we keep circling around to the same non-working solutions. Reinstall, clear cache/data, try with a different account, try on different networks. Since the update, adding to playlists just doesn't work!

I took me almost 2 minutes and 6+ attempts to add just one song to 3 playlists!
This absolutely unusable!

About the add-to-playlist slide down panel, is definitely difficult to close and this is having a negative impact on my experience - it's just not user friendly.

In the previous version you'd close the panel by pressing a button in the bottom part of the screen - easy access for thumbs, sparing you the hassle of having to change the way you hold your phone.

I usually go quickly through new albums and decide after a few seconds of listen,if I want to heat more and in which playlist. The new panel has made this experience tiresome (3 attempts to close it cause I can't slide all the way through without moving my hands is just annoying!)

Okay, now not only songs don't get add to multiple playlist, they don't even get saved in the first playlist you choose! I have to do the process several times, this is so annoying.

The new menu is horrid, it has turned what was previously a three second pause into a full minute+ of standing around. I can't do that at my job. It also just doesn't drag down reliably. I think it's really funny that we keep on getting told to update our OS and stuff when the outlier is the app itself updating and adding a buggy, dysfunctional menu. I also saw my playlists just straight up disappear from the menu for some time once? It just sucks.

Heeey, been struggling here for a couple of days already! Any solutions from someone that worked out?

You can click the + to select the new playlist, then swipe the drawer down and it will added to that playlist.

You will need to repeat the whole process for every new playlist, but it does work!

My Question or Issue

When trying to add a song to multiple playlists at once the song will only add to the first playlist selected, I have to go back and add it one by one closing the menu between each playlist entry

I've been searching for this issue for days. I am so sick of these UI changes. I get that all the programmers spotify has need an excuse to keep their jobs, but the LEAST they could do when changing the UI is be certain is doesn't mess up the functionality. If this isn't fixed in a month I am leaving for apple music. I have been a long time Spotify premium user, over 5 years and I am so done with Spotify at this point.

FYI, i did a clean install and it didn't work. I also almost lost my spotify account because when I went to sign in it was in Russian or a non English alphabet language, said I had been out of the country for 14 days and refused to let me sign in again. It eventually fixed itself, but DO NOT DO A CLEAN INSTALL.

Hi Spotify Team,

My name is Sahil Lamba, and I have a small suggestion regarding the playlist feature in your app.

When we click the plus (+) button to add a song to a playlist, it gets added successfully — but there is no “Done” or “OK” button afterward. I believe adding such a button would improve user experience. After adding a song, users could simply tap “Done” or “OK” to close the window and return to the previous screen.

Currently, there’s no clear way to exit that screen, which might cause confusion for some users. I think many people could benefit from this small change.

Please consider this suggestion for a future update.

If you would like to discuss this further,**bleep**.

Thank you for your time and for creating such an amazing music platform!

Warm regards,

Sahil Lamba

Having the exact same issue with my Samsung A53 and have tried reinstalling, clearing cache and all the other generic non-solutions. How is this still unresolved after weeks? What was this update that removes the 'save changes' button supposed to improve exactly? My subscription just renewed a couple days ago which just leaves an extra bad taste. Nothing about this service feels remotely premium. I'm seriously close to permanently ditching Spotify for Apple music. Please do your jobs and solve this glaring issue that is clearly affecting a lot of people - this isn't the only thread about it I've seen.

I posted an Idea topic here, as per the support's recommendation. Please vote.

I'm having the same issue on my pixel 8a. When I'm trying to add a new song with the plus icon and select multiple playlists, it only saves to the first selected. It works fine on PC.

I'm having the same issue with not being able to add songs to my playlist.  It's very frustrating.  No matter how many times I go through the process it just doesn't save.

I have an Android and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it didn't help.

Spot on with this recommendation . Spotify premium user since 2013.  Please revert this back.  Nearly every digital application in 2025: "back" means cancel, not "save".  There needs to be a confirmation.  This is so annoying.
