My Question or Issue

On the desktop app, I just attempted to move one of my pinned folders into an unpinned folder (assuming it would become unpinned in the process) and instantly almost every single one of my playlists and folders have disappeared. I can search for them and they will show up but are no longer showing up in the Your Library sidebar. There are 4 folders that remain now, one them being a pinned folder.

I've already attempted to log in and out of my account several times and everything is still missing. I've waited 30 minutes, hoping that everything would re-sync, but everything is still missing. I've checked in the browser web player and on my android device and everything is still missing. I've checked the "Recover playlists" tool in the settings but none of the missing playlists are there. I've never used a different account for Spotify.

It seems like something broke when attempting to move the folder/playlists and now the data that stores the folder/playlist structure has been corrupted.

I probably have over 1000 playlists meticulously organized in folders, which I have been maintaining for the last 10+ years. There's no way I can remember the names of everything I'd need to search to recover. This is absolutely devastating and I'm extremely upset.

Hey @rossJS, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

I just tried to replicate the same behaviour, but the folders and their contents moved successfully. I think something must be wrong with the account cache.

I'd recommend a clean install using this guide on either your desktop app or the mobile app. If that doesn't work, you can contact Spotify via this link and let them know about the issue; they might be able to restore your library to an earlier state.

Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂
