My Question or Issue

When I go to an artist page > liked songs, the list contains songs from that artist that I haven't liked. It looks like this list doesn't just contain all the individually liked songs from an artist, but also every song from every album you've liked by that artist, regardless of whether the song itself is liked.

For example, if I like an album with 12 songs in it and then individually like 11 out of the 12 songs on the album, the 12th song will still appear in the artist > liked list. If I unlike the album itself, but leave all the liked songs intact, and go back to the artist > liked list, the 12th song will not be there. If I tap on the three dots next to an unliked song in this list, it'll show that it hasn't been liked and it doesn't show up in any other lists of liked songs.

I would expect that this list would show only songs that have directly been liked, and not all of these extra songs. It kind of defeats the purpose of having this feature to begin with, given that it's the only way to get a list of all liked songs from a specific artist.

I tried to compare functionality with the Mac desktop application, but that doesn't even have the all like songs by an artist option on the artist page to begin with.

Hey there @maiandra7,

Thanks for the post!

On mobile - Liking an Album would add all the tracks from that album to the Liked Songs on Artist page. The songs won't be added directly to your Liked Songs playlist. This was something which many users requested in the past.

The functionality of the app differs on different platforms and the UI is different, so it's to be expected that you don't find the same menus across platforms.

Hope this clears things up. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

I’m looking at mine right now and unlikes the albums that are liked, and songs that aren’t like and we’re only included cause of liking the album are still showing up in my liked song. Some songs I never liked are also on there too even though I checked and the album wasn’t liked to begin with

Hey there @Snailbite,

Thanks for the post.

If you have ever logged in on a device like a smart speaker/ TV to which other users might have also had access to, other users might have Liked those song.

Best thing to do is to log out everywhere and back in only on devices which you currently use.

Hope this helps 🙂

THANK YOU!!!

Hi,

Update: I think I figured out what's going on for me; I believe it's just an actual engineering bug. "Liked" albums don't show the heart filled in on iOS mobile, so there's no way for me to "unlike" that album (or even know I "liked" it ~3 years ago) without opening the playlist / album on desktop and "unliking" the album to remove all the songs in it from my Liked playlist.

I'm running into this also — I have entire albums of songs by an artist showing up in my Liked list, and I can't figure out how to remove them — on desktop (MBP) or mobile (iOS). Can you please help me remove these from the liked songs list?? They're not showing with the little heart "clicked", so there's nothing I can do to "unlike" them, and since Liked Songs isn't a playlist, I can't remove them from the playlist.

Use case for this: I want to listen to songs I've "Liked" by a particular artist who has 10+ albums, and many songs I don't like. I can't figure out how to do this currently; even if I search for only songs I've saved by that artist in a playlist, Spotify still won't let me filter on *only* that artist.

Hey @thisrunson,

Thanks for your reply in this thread,

In this case, in order to fully understand what you're mentioning, could you share with us a video recording in which we can visualize your Liked songs playlist?

We'll keep an eye on your response!

I am having the same issue, was a solution found by any chance?

Cheers :]

Hey @tamagothci,

Thank you for joining the conversation and welcome.

Keep in mind that liking the album will add all the songs it contains to the section Liked songs in the Artist page. However, this doesn't add those songs to your Liked songs playlists since a while ago.

To remove the unwanted songs and just keep the ones you really like, we'd recommend un-liking the album directly from the album page by un-filling the heart below the album cover.

Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

This is not a good solution.  If you un-like an album, that removes it from the Albums section of Your Library.  I would like to save the albums I want to have in my library and still be able to play the Liked Songs by artist that only includes the individual songs I like. Right now the Liked Songs by artist lists are useless because they contain songs I don't like.

Hi @stet!

There's an idea about changing the feature so that it only shows the tracks that are in your Liked Songs playlist (excluding your saved albums) here, so feel free to check it out and show your support if you haven't already.

Cheers!
