My Question or Issue

Lately I notice the quality of my release radar getting worse. I have been using Spotify for a long time and I always actively like and dislike songs, therefore I would expect Spotify to know my taste in music. But these last few weeks artists are showing up in my release radar that I never listen to and always dislike. The past two release radars even had some of the same songs in it that I had disliked the week before. Even songs from artists I said not to play anymore show up. Last week I had already disliked 12 songs of the 30 before even playing the release radar because I could already tell by the artists I wasn't interested in the music.

Is there something I can do, besides liking and disliking songs, to influence what songs I get in my release radar? I used to always enjoy it, but the last weeks listening to my release radar has been more irritating than fun.

Hey @calvindwt

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

We're sorry to hear that you've been receiving recommendations you didn't enjoy in the Release Radar playlist. We can confirm the Hide this song feature blocks a certain track from the specific playlist on the current device. The way that Release Radar is set up is that it gets renewed every Friday and counts as a new playlist. Because of this, the songs that you had hidden in the last week might still appear in the new one.

Additionally, it seems that other users feel the way you do and posted this idea about this. You can add your support there by up-voting the idea. We'll inform on any developments there, as soon as there are any. So make sure to subscribe, if you haven't already.

On another note, you can mute an artist so it won't be played again. From the mobile app, head to the artist's page, tap on the 3 dot menu and select "Don't play this". This will affect all your devices.

We also suggest taking a look at this article for tips on how to improve your Made for You playlists.

Hi Eni,

Thank you for response. I wanted to wait for this weeks release radar before updating this post. This release radar is the 4th week in a row where I get recommendations from artists I have muted. For example, 3 weeks ago I muted Kid Ink, but I continue to get songs from Kid Ink in every release radar. 8 spots in my latest release radar are taken up by artists I always block in my release radars.

I have already tried updating the app, reinstalling the app, logging out and logging back in, nothing seems to work. In the past my release radars were always songs and artists I enjoy, but nowadays it almost feels like artists can buy spots in my release radar or something.

Hey @calvindwt

Thanks for your reply 🙂

Take into account that the Don't play this feature only prevents the songs by the blocked artist from being played. They might still show up on playlists and even in your recommendations, but the songs should be skipped. Currently, there's no way to visually "hide" the songs by the artist.

In this case, could you let us know if the songs from the blocked artists are playable or if they are skipped in your Release Radar playlist?

We'll be waiting for your reply.
