Fork the Beat

Fork the Beat

As someone who loves discovering and creating playlists, I often find playlists that are almost perfect—but need a few tweaks. On Spotify, editing someone else’s playlist requires collaborator access, which isn’t always possible.

Imagine a feature inspired by GitHub where you can “fork” a playlist. With one tap, it’s copied to your library, letting you add, remove, or reorder songs without affecting the original.

This removes friction from music curation, turning playlists into flexible, personal creations while preserving the original—making discovery more creative, seamless, and user-driven.

Hi there, @deveshjain,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I believe you can already to this in Spotify by tapping the three dots menu of a playlist > Add to other playlist > New playlist. This creates an exact duplicate with you as the new owner, allowing you to make edits as you please!

Hope you found this useful. In case I have misunderstood you and you meant something else, feel free to elaborate further.

Cheers 🤘
