My Question or Issue
When searching for personalized playlists, Google Assistant devices re-direct to random albums with similar names.
I've got a routine within the Google Home app to “shuffle my daily mix 3 on Spotify”
Until mid April it worked as expected, recently it’s starting playing Daily Drive. I’ve messed around with the wording & sometimes it plays songs recommend to me (Based on the album Daily Mix 3 by Luis Masters) but will no longer play the thing I’m after.. My daily mix 3.
This has been an issue in the past with the album by Luis masters, I got around it by changing the wording but no luck this time.
Can this be looked into please.
Same issue. Both Google Assistant and Google Home play this album whenever I ask to play my Discovery Weekly playlist. I've factory reset my Nest Mini, and unlinked several times. What can we do about this?
Same issue. I've followed the steps described on similar posts for unlinking/relinking, and/or factory resetting the devices. Replies on other threads are linking to either archived or to pages where my access is denied for whatever reason (e.g. this thread).
Is there a reason why requesting my playlists are deprioritized? Even if specifically saying "Play my Discover Weekly playlist"?
And @marcolopespt - the popping sound might be due to the ultrasound sensing setting on the Google side. See this post on reddit. Turning that off worked for me at least*
"And @marcolopespt - the popping sound is due to the ultrasound sensing setting on the Google side. See this post on reddit."
I WISH!!! Been living with it for more than 6 months, and as NOTHING to do with the Ultrasonic feature! https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Strange-popping-sound-in-my-nest-mini/t...
And it's happens with ALL audio (not just Spotify, so, this one is a Google side problem)
What is NOT a Google issue is the one described in this current topic!
So, now that we pretty much debugged this issue to be a fault on the Spotify API, how long until it gets resolved?
The past weeks have been dreadful, it's complete despair trying to play something in Spotify using voice commands!!
Almost NEVER a playlist is played! Only random LPs and SONGs...
C'mon SPOTIFY!!!
Are you working of a FIX?
If so, is there any timeline for the FIX to be done?
Hey there @stepshep, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
I am sorry to hear about this. Currently, it's not possible to block a playlist, but you can block an artist or a specific song from playing. You can check out this thread for more information and steps on how to do that.
You can also block a user from following your account by following these steps. I'll also make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks.
Let me know if you need a hand with anything else!
Friend, you need to calm down. You are coming across really badly here - your frustration is understandable, we're all frustrated by this, but these things aren't simple - think of any time you've been using a computer and its been doing something you don't expect, and you can't work out why, but eventually you work it out and its because you had forgotten to set one setting, or tick one option, or something like that - the Spotify ecosystem is that, but x1000. Debugging errors like this is hard - loads of users are not reporting a problem, which makes it tricky to know where the error is occurring, who it's occurring for, and why it might be occurring. One common theme we can see here is that we are all coming from google devices - a search for "Alexa can't find my discover weekly playlist" yields no results of interest, so I feel like that accusation that this must be a Spotify issue is not accurate.
Sadly, for those of us immersed in Google devices and the Android eco-system, I think this recent article sums up exactly what we are facing, and points the finger firmly at google.

We likely need to take this issue up with google. We likely will not get very far.

Did this have a solution? I also have this issue. Suddenly stopped working. Very frustrating.
None of that worked.
Please read the answers here.
99% probability it's Spotify API fault. Something was changed.
Also, you point nothing valuable except a web search?
Sure, it would help a confirmation of someone that is using other ecosystems that work with Spotify!
YOU seem to have ALEXA!
Why don't you give us the feedback of playing YOUR Spotify playlists using VOICE commands on ALEXA??
@marcolopespt I don't know who you think you're shouting at, but I'm just another user that's having the same problem, and trying to work out what's wrong. I pointed out that people with non-Google devices are not having this problem, which is a good indicator it may be a Google problem, and I pointed out that a recent article from a reputable source has identified that there are a lot of problems with Google Assistant right now, and that it appears Google are abandoning it - that's a problem, and could very well be relevant to this particular issue we're having - I'm going to take my complaints and info over to google community.
Now please, stop shouting at people on the internet. I don't care how frustrated you are at this (arguably very minor) inconvenience, you're coming across as very rude and entitled.
Incredible that this has been going on for so long and spotify can't fix it, if it matters, voice integration with Google assistant is the only reason I use spotify, if it can't even do that, I'll stop paying and do some other service
Hey there folks,
We've worked together with Google on this and we've made some changes - things should now be up and running again!
Make sure to re-link the accounts, should you still experience issues with voice commands & your playlists. You can do so by following the steps here.
Cheers!
YES!!! FIXED!!!
(no need to link the Spotify account again)
THANK YOU Spotify!
So... if there were changes made by Spotify, they were needed because:
1) Google changed / broke "things"?
2) Spotify changed / broke "things"?
3) Google AND Spotify changed / broke "things"?
(can you please provide some feedback?)
Thanks again!
Yes, thanks Spotify and Google for finally getting together and fixing this ... some information on the fix would be nice.
And thanks to @marcolopespt for his persistence in following up. This has also been driving me crazy for the last six months and I have been trying out alternative music providers as a result. Now I can cancel my trial subscriptions.
It seems to be mostly working here as well. Whatever broke it, please don't do it again. Whatever fixed it, please keep that updated.
The only issue I've come across is when a personalized playlist isn't spelled in an expected (albeit unknown to me) way. For example, asking for a playlist I made named "Basstastic" brought up someone else's "Bass-Tastic" playlist. After renaming mine to "Bass-Tastic", Google/Spotify choose mine when asked. An easy enough work around, and likely won't happen too often.
It was an interesting experiment on how an assistant interpreted my voice, sent along a search command, and then prioritized the results. Somewhere it didn't prioritize the possibility of multiple phonetic results to different similar spellings.
It was doing so well for the last week or two.
And then this morning the Google Home routine reverted to playing the album rather than playlist. (I've added the word playlist to the routine now and it... Seems... To work, but is it now a question of for how long...)
All is working on my side... Playlists play as they should!
I really hope we don't go back in time with this problem...
NOTE: There was a firmware update on Google Devices (i already have it, except for the STERO PAIR, because there is a BUG that prevents BOTH devices to be updated! https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Nest-Mini-firmware-384934-NOT-li...)
Thanks! This is all very time consuming... Technology should make our lives easier and pleasurable, and since i joined the Google ecosystem, it's been a complete **bleep**!
Anyway... my question remains...
Was this problem introduced by GOOGLE, SPOTIFY or BOTH??
Well it was fixed. And then, this morning when starting the routine, the Google Assistant said "playing the album Daily Mix 2" and went back to its broken ways.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
