Is the “Hide Song” feature gone??

Is the “Hide Song” feature gone??

Hello,

I used to be able to hide songs from a playlist, but I can’t seem to find the option anymore. I am only given the option to remove from the playlist.

Songs I hid months ago are still hidden, but any new songs I want to hide don’t seem to have the option.

Was this feature taken away?

I really hope not, I love being able to hide songs I am temporarily sick of and then easily able to re-add them in when I’m ready to hear them again. I have so many that I wouldn’t remember what I’ve removed so I would struggle to add it back in later.

Please let me know if others aren’t able to hide anymore, or if they are. Hopefully it was just moved or I just have a glitch.

I have a premium plan and am on an iPhone.

Thanks!

Hi @Mousequeen19,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

At the moment, the Hide Song feature is available only on personalized playlists such as Discover Weekly or Daily Mixes. But it's not available in regular playlists.

However, if you think this feature would benefit other users, you can submit an idea requesting it.

In this article you can find the steps to submit it. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.

Hope this helps!

MafeG, thanks for your response. I will definitely go the suggestion route. I see what you mean too, it looks like I can still hide songs in playlists I follow that I didn’t create (though I don’t believe they are daily mixes or discover weekly, just someone else’s public playlist). I am still confused though as to how I was once able to hide songs in at least some of the playlists I created. I go into one of the playlists I made now and I see several songs still hidden. How was this possible?

Hi @Mousequeen19,

Thank you for your swift reply.

Spotify is constantly testing new features, which means sometimes old features can get removed. This explains why you're not able to hide songs from your own playlists anymore.

In any case, we do appreciate your understanding and hope that the idea you submit reaches enough votes to be considered 🙂

Cheers!

I'm having a similar problem--and this thread helps, but not entirely.

Previously, I could hide songs in my Release Radar (a playlist I don't create), but no longer. This started last week for some reason. I see I can hide songs in Discover Weekly and other generated playlists--so why no longer in Release Radar?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Another useful feature randomly removed for no good reason. Why? How does it benefit Spotify to keep doing this? If the feature wasn't buggy then it should stay.

I used to be able to hide songs from web player on my discovery weekly but the option is no longer available. Is there any reason for that?

Hey @pasiniadriano,

Thanks for your reply.

This seems to be one of the changes we recently made. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. So you may see something your friend can't see, or you may have access to a completely new feature for a while.

We really appreciate the time you've taken to report this to us; we know you want to make the most of your listening experience. You can find the hide button in the now playing view on the mobile app or by selecting the three dots > Hide song.

We'll be here if anything else comes up.

Take care!

Make sure Crossfade is on

"you can submit an idea requesting it"

recapping;

Obvious useful feature exists ---> Spotify removes it ---> User frustrated by missing feature --> Spotify suggests requesting the feature.

Who is behind this stupid product management?

Spotify really is the Britta of music apps
