Man spotify is so bad, i only keep using spotify because i have like 700 liked songs and a few playlist that i made myself that are around 100 songs long, but the recomendation are so bad, ALWAYS the same... How is possible that you recommend almost all the same songs in a (check this out i cannot believe but you can try for yourself): Madonna radio, the weeknd radio, queen radio, taylor swift radio, billie eilish radio and olivia rodrigo radio. Then i tried change a complete set of gender and are the same thing with: Rammstein radio, elvis presley radio, nirvana radio, metalica radio and the black keys radio.
Other thing that i just realised, spotify community is not account related with spotify, is so annoying that the made me make a new accont and verify the email, the "I'm not a robot" works so bad that i had to refresh the page 2 time to publish my last reply. Is there any reason to keep using this app?.
Here is some real feedback: DO NOT ADD A EXPORT SONGS/PLAYLIST TO OTHER APPS because you'll lose like 70% of the users.
I am also getting this issue no matter what song i pick. I am using android.
If i search for a song, and play it (not in a playlist) the next song is always Feint by linkin park, followed by chop suey and the kids aren't alright. Evey time, in that order. I like these songs but i don't want to listen to them every. single. Time. Its frustrating
Same here, for me it's always Red Wine Supernova and HOT TO GO! by Chapell Roan. She's nice but I don't want to listen to these 2 same songs every single an album or song I'm listening to is over
What's going on with algorithm of recommendation? looks like it broke) I'm deleting tracks every week from ''release radar'' and every week I see that again.
Yo, this algorithm is busted. Was also getting Chappell Roan like crazy but didn't notice cause she's dope but now I'm trying to make a bunch of background muzak playlists, and it keeps flooding my reccs with Jim Guthrie. I have literally never heard of this dude and he's now the only recommendation I'm getting for like 6 different playlists. I clicked the do not play this artist option for him and Sea Power (who I did happen to include early on in the playlist and it started reccomending more and more of their songs) because despite being a 16 hour playlist, with less than an hour of their music on it, when using enhanced shuffle, it would literally *only* go back and forth between Sea Power and Jim frinkin Guthrie. Spotify had a straight heart attack after that, it was honestly really funny. How much it lost it's mind shuffling and reshuffling the same greyed out songs from the same greyed out artists, trying desperately to figure out how to solve the problem of "It's like he doesn't want to listen to these same two artists, but that can't be right, lets just try some even more obscure songs from those same two artists.... no, no, maybe he wants the classic hits of these same two artists.... Well, I'm stumped, lets just go back to the tried and true two artists that always work."
Anyway, it's not as bad as it was after I started getting borderline hostile in my negative feedback on it's reccs of those two, but I'm still getting Jim god dang Guthrie in my daily radar and such, it's wild how much it wants me to be into this guy I've literally never heard of and don't have any feelings about one way or the other.
**bleep** this is already outdated 😂😂 The radios do this too!!!
There has been no addressing of the request to have a DISLIKE option next to a song. Also, hide song does nothing at all because the same songs just reappear. And the option to dislike artists? Useless. I get MORE of the artists I have disliked and asked not to recommend.
Well, this is frustrating. 🙂 But I’ve got to admit, I wrote the rant below and then realized I hadn’t been using the Discover Weekly playlist Spotify was generating for me each week. (It wasn’t on my home screen so I searched for it.) That playlist has a dislike button for each song which satisfyingly skips directly to the next song. Also, 30 of the 40 songs were from artists I’d never heard of. Unfortunately, I only liked two of the forty songs. Hopefully it will learn and be better next week. I think it refreshes on Mondays.
However, I enjoyed ranting so I’ve kept that below. At the bottom, there’s a link to a very detailed post from another user with a strategy that works for him. Hope this can help others.
Here’s the rant!
Regardless of operating system, I think what we all want to know is: what do we need to do to get Spotify to recommend songs we haven’t heard before but are likely to enjoy? If it keeps recommending the same songs, how do we discourage that? How do we help the algorithm to learn what we like and what we don’t? If that’s not possible, what are the plans to make it happen?
Sometimes the world doesn’t make sense. I would think that a quality recommendation algorithm would be the #1 competitive edge these companies would throw resources at. Incomprehensibly, Spotify’s algorithm sucks. Anyone could make a better recommendation algorithm using a freaking Excel spreadsheet. What gives? Maybe they could just hire one record store expert in each genre and team them up with programmers. How hard can it be? “30% of people who like artist X have added this track from Artist Y in the past month. Recommend that to the other 70%. Give them the chance to give that track a positive , negative, or neutral rating. Or if someone likes Jack Johnson but haven’t listened to a lot of Bob Marley, give them Bob Marley recommendations. You don’t like him, how about Xavier Rudd? Paul Simon? People who like Jack Johnson have been listening to this new release from this other artist- check it out.” Anyways, there’s probably some barrier I don’t understand. 🙂
The most helpful thing I’ve found is this post from a few years ago. I’ve contacted the author and he has said this is still the best system he knows about. It’s a long article, but basically:
1) Make a playlist of your favorite tunes and listen to it a lot. (You’re probably already doing this.)
2) Go to your Discover Weekly playlist. Search for it if it’s not on your home screen. (I don’t know what to do if Spotify keeps putting the same songs in here.) Add any songs you like from this to a new playlist. (I just did this and, awesomely, I hadn’t heard most of the songs before. Less awesomely, I only liked two of the forty songs.) Listen to that new playlist A LOT and keep adding your favorite songs to it.
3) That’s about it. 🙂
Hopefully Spotify’s stock will crash and they’ll have to start working for our money.
In the meantime, I recommend trying Xavier Rudd:)
Here’s the detailed post from the guy:
It used to be an amazing algorithm in my opinion. But they've gotten lazy. Like, come on you people who raised the rate, you can figure out that if I like one song I just might like to be introduced to another album by the same artist...or if I open 2 similar but different playlists with the same category is live to be introduced to some NEW songs. But by all means TPTB just copy and paste.
You are SO on target. Like, do not bother to put up the current music suggestions on the home page. I never open them because the same artists are in them over and over, and Spotify can not figure out that if they gave me new choices then I might open the lists. I do want to be introduced to new stuff contemporary music! But it would seem that is too much work.
Billie, Kendrick, even Taylor yes. How much have they paid them to try to force me to listen to them? They should pull their money because the effect they are having is the opposite of what they want.
Thank you CmonSpotifyyy. For actually posing something helpful, since clearly Spotify is too lazy to address our issues themselves. They clearly have no interest in the fact that customers are frustrated. And basically about all the same things. And have been for a long time.
