Spotify will not play songs from my Liked songs playlist. It’s only the Liked songs playlist that doesn't play songs - others are fine. When I try to click on a song it stops anything else that is playing but does not start playing any new track. There are no error messages.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Android 14. I have no SD card.
Spotify 9.0.14.561. Premium subscription.
Other devices are fine.
Clean reinstall does not work (including checking for co.spotify.music files etc.).
Other users have the same problem and have been for a number of years. The issue comes and goes but always comes back.
I have tried to get Spotify Support to fix this many times and they have never been able to. I always get passed from one person to the next over many days, each one starting again asking me the same questions. Whenever I raise this, the support person abandons me, cutting me off without saying anything, then I get passed to yet another person who starts again asking the same questions. There is clearly no accountability or tracking resolutions with Spotify Support staff. So far, every one of the following support staff has done this:

Hey @Shauntdd30,
Thanks for the quick reply and the clarification!
It's very odd that these songs don't play only when you click on them, so it'd be very helpful for us if you can make a screen recording of what happens when you try to play them directly on your phone, so that we can double-check. If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video.
We'll be on the lookout.

For additional context, I played a song first then to another one a few songs below to show that it was not playing at all. The last 20 will not play. Nothing pops up when I click onto a song at the bottom of my list.
Hey @Shauntdd30,
Thanks for the screen recording!
You mentioned unliking and liking these songs again afterwards, but did the order of your Liked Songs change when you did that? If not, then something might have gone wrong, so I'd recommend doing that again, just keep in mind that they would go to the top of the list instead. After you unlike the songs, you can try performing a clean reinstall just to make sure that any damaged cache would be removed before liking them again. You can also check if they've been removed from the desktop app as well after you unlike them just to make sure your account is synced between your devices.
Let us know how it goes.
So, the desktop app won't let me highlight and add multiple songs to a playlist without adding each track individually... So this suggestion doesn't work. This is ridiculous... Playing songs, and creating playlists really shouldn't be this buggy.... It's kind of the Spotify bread and butter right!?
I feel like its the "liked songs" playlist(I think its not a playlist). It had numerous issues which no other playlist had.

Screen recorder did not record audio but it should show you the glitch with how some songs refuse to play.
Hi @Shipwreck115,
Thanks for the reply and the video.
Could you let us know the following:
Keep us posted.
The songs play normally when I search for them. Sometimes they'll play if I change the order to recently added.
There is no order when it stops working. It's pure random.
It works fine on PC. This issue doesn't happen.
Hey there @Shipwreck115,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
From what we could see in the video you kindly sent us, it seems you're using Connect to manage the playback from a different device. Just to confirm, does this happen when the playback comes directly from your tablet? Would you mind sending us more details about the device from which the playback is coming from?
Additionally, we'd like to gather some further info. Please send us:

im having the same issue. a bunch of my liked songs wont play when i click on them, they just highlight then unhighlight and will even completely stop a song thats already playing and take it out of the que. it started with songs in just the C section but now i have songs in every letter section that wont olay when clicked on. i have to manually skip to the song from a song thats playing. nothing ive done has worked, logging out and in, reinstalling and whatever this “clean” reinstall stuff is. i just want to play the music im paying to listen to.
I've had Connect on in the past and I never had this issue. This glitch started after a recent update.
My current version is 9.0.20.604
Even I am having the same problem. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again but it still doesn’t work.
It seems that I can’t select some of my downloaded songs in my “Liked Songs” playlist. I would tap on the song I want to listen to and it wouldn’t even highlight the song green or display it as if it never registered the song being selected.
I even tried the clear cache method and deleted and reinstalled but it still isn’t working…

Hey there @xostamps,
Thanks for reaching out on the Community!
Just to confirm, as you mention this happens with downloaded tracks, does it occur when using the app in Offline mode? Or does it happen when you're online and connected 4G/WiFi?
Also, have you noticed if this behavior persist on other devices that you use Spotify on? And are you able to play other playlists without any issues?
It would be great if you could send us a video or screenshot showing how things look from your end, should the issues continue. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.
Keep us posted!

My Question or Issue
There are certain songs in my “liked songs” playlist that will not play when in a certain spot. When I hit on them to play them nothing plays. When I go to the album and play the song from there it will work or if I connect my phone to my PS5 and play a song through there the song will work. I have even removed the songs and added them back to the top of the playlist and they work, but the songs that move down to those spots the others were just at as a result of me putting one at the top won’t work. I feel as though this is a glitch in the app because the songs WILL play, just not if they are in a certain order in my playlist. I have tried to reset my phone, uninstall the app, and logged out/in. This sounds weird, but can anyone help?

So I updated and restarted my phone and same thing plays songs and then click on 1 song from the certain album and stop playing anything then I go to the bands page and select the album plays fine. I get home am listening from my phone and use my pc to control it and see and it plays fine try to use my phone to select it and again stops and to fix I had to remove it from my liked songs and re add them ????

In my liked songs playlist some songs that I click on will not play the only thing that changes is the play/pause button but no audio. The songs that will not play are not greyed out and will only play when I search for them. My spotify is up to date I have cleared my cache, done a clean reinstall of the app and nothing has worked.
