My Question or Issue
I liked a lot of songs on the Windows 10 app, and none show up as Liked on my iPhone app. I have tried signing out of Spotify on my phone, and I even connected the devices to play my liked tracks list from my PC through my phone, but that didn't help either.
Is there any way to force the lists to sync?
Thanks!
Hey folks,
Thanks for submitting your info.
The right folks at Spotify are aware of this issue and are working on it. You can follow the development of this here. I'd recommend subscribing to the thread and adding your +Vote in order to get notifications about it.
We'll post more info about this there.
Cheers.
Hi @fromthewoods,
Thank you for posting on this thread!
Please let us know if you've tried any of the troubleshooting steps shared throughout the thread.
Also, you mention the liked songs on your phone aren't showing on the desktop app. Does the same happen the other way around? When you like songs on the desktop app do they show on your phone?
We'll be on the lookout.
Devices: MacBook Air (macOS Big Sur 11.6), Samsung A71 (Android 11, One UI 3.1)
Account: Premium Duo
I have had similar issues to those reported in this thread, for a number of months. When I like a song on the Mac app, it shows on my Samsung. But when I like a song on my Samsung, it doesn't sync with the Mac. For example, if I shuffle play all songs by a liked artist on my phone (Foo Fighters, 38 songs) and then transfer playback to my Mac, the queue changes to the 17 songs the desktop app recognises.
My phone currently shows 4611 liked songs, and my Mac shows 4059.
I have seen this issue reported as far back as 2012 and have tried the following steps:
All tried on WiFi and 4G/mobile hotspot.
Seems pretty crazy that a simple feature like syncing songs across devices has been broken for so long.
Songs "liked" on my phone were not showing up in Windows. I hadn't "liked" a song on Windows until today. After doing so, the lists synced up!
I "liked" another song on my phone and it showed up within minutes on Windows. Something was definitely stuck.
At one point the Windows "liked" list was missing tracks that I had liked on my phone from several days ago.
Hi there folks,
Thank you for your replies and confirmations.
eoinsmith - can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it.
If you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app since the card can be corrupted.
@fromthewoods - we're really glad to see that everything works as it should for you again as it should 🙂
Cheers!
My liked songs haven't been syncing properly to my PC since mid July, for both individual songs but also for albums and artists.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify on my iPhone (12) and the liked songs and albums still show in the library there.
I've tried logging out and back in on PC, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling.
I also can't add anything new to liked songs or albums on PC, it just comes up with an error saying "Something went wrong".
I've checked the settings and can't see anything that should be doing this so not sure what else to try.
Hey @sammiepitter,
Thanks for the post.
You can try connecting your PC to another network and check that there is no Firewall rule blocking Spotify.
This could be causing issues with your library syncing on the PC.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
I’ve been experiencing this too. Songs liked on my phone won’t show on my tablet or vice versa. I’m missing hundreds of songs across my devices. The email support asked a trillion questions which I answered and their final reply was to tell me to uninstall the app and download again. That’s not a solution whatsoever - and I’m not about to uninstall the app every time I like a new song. I never had this issue with Apple Music and will likely revert back. How does a company that prides itself on being platform agnostic have such glaring issues with cross-device syncing?
Hi @user-removed,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
To start, we'd like to know if you've followed any troubleshooting steps.
Also, did you reinstall the app as Customer Support suggested? If so, did you notice any change after doing that?
Lastly, could you check that your computer's firewall isn't blocking any connection for Spotify?
Keep us posted.
Hey @user-removed,
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, when you reinstall the app do your Liked songs show up in both devices?
Additionally, we'd recommend logging out and then logging back in two times in a row on your devices. It sounds a bit odd, but it forces a sync between the account and your device.
If this doesn't do the trick, could you try using a different internet connection while adding new songs to your playlist to check if that makes the difference?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
My 2020 MacBook Pro is also omitting over 2,000 songs from my liked songs playlist. Which shows up fine on my iPhone 8 and 2013 iMac.
I've tried every simplistic trouble-shooting method I've come across and have found no viable solution. I understand that i can create a "duplicate" playlist to which I copy my songs over -- but that necessitates the need to duplicate with each new song added. Isn't that just a load of senseless labor? What's the deal? This should not be this moot of a repair.
Also- the first time I tried posting an error occurred and deleted my text. Way to add to the compound resentment, Spotify.
I have the same issue as other people in this thread, my liked songs don’t sync between my MacBook and iPhone. I tried logging out multiple times, that didn’t work. I uninstalled the app on both devices and it worked until I started adding new songs to liked songs playlist. I don’t want to have to uninstall the app every time I add new songs to the playlist, please fix soon!
Hi there @fuzzypuff,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
Can you let us know if this behavior persists when you Like a song while having the app open in both desktop and mobile?
Additionally, apart from logging out and reinstalling the app, can you list all the other troubleshooting steps mentioned on this thread that you've already tried?
Keep us posted.
Hi, I am new to spotify since a few weeks (premium account) and I am also an IT expert, so I know how to sort out standard app refresh problems. Unfortunately I experience similar syncing issues accross devices. The number of liked songs on my pc (windows 10) differs from the one on my iphone (model X). Sometimes the iphone has more songs, sometimes the PC does. This is very annoying indeed. I currently have about 700 liked songs.
Hi @Olstrom,
Thanks for the post.
Can you check whether the Spotify app is granted all permissions in your phone's settings. This could be hindering the apps performance.
Keep us posted.
Why is this an issue!
It was fine until I presume the last Desktop update, which makes me suspicious of the same. My Android and Desktop aren't syncing the liked songs, though they are perfectly fine with other syncs.
Logging out of all my devices and then logging back in helped with syncing my Liked Playlist across devices.
You know its been years and we still have these syncing issues. My liked songs doesn't sync between android and PC.
Windows 11
Premium
Phone is Android 12
This happens a lot for me. I've liked songs on my Android 12 device (Samsung Galaxy S21) and then an outdated liked songs list is on my desktop (happens on both Windows 10 and 11). Sometimes quitting Spotify on desktop and reopening triggers the sync, sometimes quitting and reopening a couple of times does it and sometimes doing that doesn't do anything. Very inconsistent sync behaviour on desktop.
Signing out or rebooting is a bit clunky hack if I'm honest.
I also had the same problem for the last few days. I liked some songs on my desktop device (windows 10) and they didn't appear on my android (Samsung Galaxy S21) and vice versa. I tried to re-install the app in my mobile and those songs appeard, but then I tried to like another song and again it didn't work. I can't just re-install the app everytime I like a song.
