Local files not appearing in PC desktop app

My Question or Issue

I have downloaded music files (mp3) and tried adding them to different folders (Downloads, Music, Desktop in its own folder) and checked all the settings to tell Spotify where to find the files, and the Local Files folder remains empty.  I have reinstalled the app, emptied the cache, restarted the computer...These files work on my other devices so it's something to do with the laptop I think? This time when I restarted the computer, the Local Files folder doesn't appear even though it is switched on at settings. I have toggled 'show local files' on and off, the source I had set up disappeared so I re-added the source, and toggled it on, still no folder. Thoughts? thanks!

After turning it on, can you try logging out and then logging back in twice, then check if the option shows up again and stays there without disappearing on its own?

Also, if it doesn't help, it's worth trying these steps and seeing if it makes any difference.
