My audiobook has been removed

My Question or Issue

I was half way through listening to Never Finished by David Goggins and it has been removed from my list saying it's not currently available in my region? How do I make this available again?

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

All the content we have on Spotify varies over time and between countries. It all depends on permissions from rights holders. No worries, we add new content every day, so if you can’t find something, it may appear (or reappear) soon.

In the meantime, if you have the music legally stored on your device, you can play it from Spotify as Local Files. Check out this article to learn how this feature works.

The audiobook I listened to yesterday suddenly stopped being available while I was listening.
The app closed while listening and after I opened the app, the audiobook wasn't available anymore.

My Question or Issue

I signed up for listening hours to listen to the audiobook Project Hail Mary. I listened to the first chapter today and went to resume it later in the day only to find it not able to play. Then when I search for it, it says it is not available in my region (US). I searched the Recents list and it appeared but wouldn’t let me interact with it like the other options in my list. Now it’s completely gone. I restarted everything and still no solution. Any thoughts?

I’m in Australia and also have this issue. I ran out of audiobook hours yesterday so purchased a top up that is now useless as the book is no longer available in my region. Super annoyed, it would have just been cheaper to buy it from Audible!

This happened to me too today. I listened to on the way into work and on my way home said it wasn’t available in my region (US). EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.

I was 1.5 hours away from finishing the book!!!! I even bought the audiobook top off to be able to finish.  wth?!

This just happened to me as well. I was listening to it last night, and it's suddenly saying it's not available in my region today. I had looked at The Martian and Artemis yesterday to see how long they were, so i decided to check them today as well, and they have also both become unavailable since I looked at them yesterday. Did they just change the regions that all Andy Weir books are available in the middle of the day? That seems like weird timing to do it if it was intentional, I was 2/3 of the way through the book when I lost access to it so this is very frustrating.

Looks like it might have been deleted and re-uploaded? I got it to work by searching again and selecting it there (not clicking on it from my history - actually typing in Project Hail Mary and clicking search, then selecting it from the search results). It didn't save my spot 🙄

I'm having the same issue, and that really isn't an acceptable issue. It's one thing for an album or song to disappear, quite another for you to remove a book right in the middle of listening to it. I'm no longer keen to use your platform for audiobooks, in case they're suddenly removed.

Actually, thinking about this - presumably you (Spotify) know in advance when you're losing rights to content, e.g. an audiobook. Why on earth are you not warning people, before they start one, that it's going to be removed in a few days??

UK listener here. I had the same problem i.e. was most of the way through the book last night and then got the message ‘not available in your region’ this morning. Pretty frustrating when you’re 23-ish chapters through a 30 chapter audiobook! Anyway what one of the previous commenters suggested worked for me: don’t click on the audiobook in your search history, do a brand new search for the audiobook. Worked for me and I’m listening now!

Go and search for the book new instead of selecting it from your history! I
was able to finish listening to it last night after I saw you can find it
with a new search thanks to a reddit comment. Maybe they had to re-upload
the book for some reason?
