New Episodes feed has been removed from My Library

When I opened the spotify app this morning to download any new episodes from my favourite podcasts in My Library, I found a note where my New Episodes feed would be to say this was now not part of My Library and that I needed to go to Home to find new episodes. So now I have to scroll endlessly through my home page to find the banner new episodes of podcasts, and then I have to open each episode individually to then click again to get to download them. Then when I go back to the homepage it takes me back to the top again and I have to scroll down the page AGAIN to find new episodes and go through the process each time. It was a stupid change and I don't understand why you would make it so much harder for users than previously. How is this beneficial?

And where, pray tell, might this magical new "Following Feed" be found? It would be nice if users were informed when goofy changes were made. The old new episodes button worked okay—could have been better, and maybe following feed will be, but not when you have to discover it by accident.

I always wonder if anyone who makes these changes is an actual user or tries things out before they make the change. I use Spotify for podcasts because I'd found a way to make it work will less frustration than other apps. It should be simple to create a usable podcast app—not like they're a new thing or are little used—but apparently it's nigh on impossible. The search continues. Every change apps make, including Spotify, just make things more frustrating and less functional.

Fix it and while you are at, get your dev branches right so you stop breaking the sort on podcast playlists every release.

No, it doesn’t connect you to creators and new shows, that’s what the New Episodes playlist did.  You do know that we all use this app and know how it worked a few days ago right?  What the Following Feed does is create a space where you can’t connect with anything, because you can’t find anything, or filter anything.

Guess this is jsut monetization. They Intentionally made this atrocious UI change si that only podcasters who pay them huge piles of cash will be 'findable'.

Thanks for the info!  Like the 82Longhorn, I've been a developer for AT LEAST 40 years and I have had to update application features - sometimes at users' frustration and sometimes at users' delight.  There's nothing wrong with updating an application.  All you have to do is first, inform your users of the change and (b) you should let them know of how to get a similar feature in some other way.  It's not that hard.

Seit 2 Tagen fehlt in meiner Bibliothek der Reiter "Neue Folgen". Diese finde ich jetzt nur noch auf der Startseite nachdem ich auf Podcasts tippe und anschließend auf "gefolgt". Warum so umständlich?!

Es war gut, dass man in der Bibliothek direkt zwischen Musik und Podcasts wechseln konnte. Für mich mal wieder leider ein Downgrade was Nutzerfreundlichkeit angeht und das nur zum Zweck mich auf die Startseite zu kriegen.

Ok, I see. The "Podcasts > Following" feed (on the Home tab) appears to be pretty much the same thing as the old "New Episodes" feed (on the Your Library tab).  Jarring change, but no loss. Just need clear/concise notifications from Spotify on these things. Thanks.

This is a terrible update and Spotify should be ashamed. It's way more cumbersome and the worst thing : THIS NEW FEATURE DOES NOT EXIST IN THE APP OK THE CAR DISPLAY. In my car I CANNOT tank anything on newest so Spotify made itself completely useless because I'm not gonna be on my phone while driving. If this does not get resolved in a fortnight I will be canceling my subscription and getting another app.

Just here to say I agree. I cannot see any logic in Spotify's decision and their inability to explain it is telling. It's a horrible update!

Absolutely not solved! I follow a ton of podcasts where I listen to the weekly episode if the subject is something I'm interested in so now my Following/New Episode tab is ridiculously long with no way to hide marked or finished episodes, which will lead me to just start unfollowing those shows. The “update” is awful. It’s more difficult to resume a show if you pause in the middle. I don’t know who decided this change in the UI was a good idea… This is my first time writing because I am so frustrated. Seeing my 3 most recently played episodes along with the most recently released was very efficient for me. I'm going to want to listen to one of those options or nothing. --> Can Spotify explain how removing those features makes anything more simple? This is a corporate nothing response and that is telling.

The new way to find the latest podcast episodes you follow is more cumbersome than before and almost unusable (especially in android auto). The only way I even discovered the new feature is by googling it and finding this post.

Please reinstate the way this previously worked.

My Question or Issue

Just saw the announcement of the horsesh*t change that New Episodes is gone and we now should find new releases from podcasts we follow in the "Following Feed". Here's the thing, Spotify; that's literally not true. "Following Feed" contains nothing but OLD episodes from podcasts in no discernable order, both ones I've already listened to and haven't, some from YEARS AGO.

You just f*cked up the algorithm and hoped we wouldn't notice, didn't you? I have been a Premium user for years but I know I am not alone when I say this sh*t is making me seriously consider leaving Spotify behind completely. Much better to use a platform that can do things as simple as SHOW NEW PODCASTS EPISODES IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.
