Option to have Smart Shuffle NOT add songs to the queue if the song is already in the playlist

As I play music, I normally have Smart Shuffle turned on so that it can recommend me songs from bands that I listen to that I may not have added to my playlist already (been meaning to clean-up and add songs to all of my playlists but been too lazy to do so 😂), or recommend me songs of bands that I have not listened to before. However, what I don't like about Smart Shuffle is that it will add songs to the queue that are already in the playlist that I would be currently listening to, making me have to double check to see if I already have that song added to my playlist or not only to find out that I already do. An option to prevent Smart Shuffle from suggesting songs that are already in the playlist that I would be listening to would be a great addition, that way I know what songs are already in my playlist and what songs it is suggesting to me.

That’s a good idea @Degree23. You should post it in the Idea Submissions forum and it may be considered for future versions of the app.

Just be sure to check out if the idea is already there. If it's not, submit it after reading the idea submission guidelines. 🙂

Hello Osornios! I thought I did post this in the Ideas forum but I guess not! Whoops!

Hi @Degree23,

Thanks for reaching out and for the reply!

We wanted to shed some light on what happened, since there might be some confusion. This was indeed originally posted as an idea, but we've moved it to one of our Help boards, since Smart Shuffle should not recommend songs that are already in the playlist. However, it's possible that you're seeing duplicate songs if they were uploaded separately by the artist/label and have different URIs. Also, songs that are already in your playlist should have a green checkmark, so that's one way of differentiating them from the Smart Shuffle recommendations.

If that's the case, then feel free to submit a new idea as mentioned by @osornios, just make sure to include as much info as possible, such as song examples and URIs.

Hope this clears things up.
