Option to play a playlist front to back, or back to front. IOS

Option to play a playlist front to back, or back to front. IOS

It seems a pretty straightforward option, but as i notice that when i connect my bluetooth earbuds from Sony, somehow the order of playback in my playlist reverses. (This is also a bug that might need addressing)

So i have to first quit playing the song, then close the app, then reopen the app and finally start playing a song from the playlist again to have my playback order again as it should.

This is not only highly annoying, but also tedious. And that’s when i’m missing the option to simply reverse the playing order by means of a button

or toggle.

Hey @1149324923, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

Just so I understand it correctly: when you connect your Sony earbuds, the queue reverses. If you hit play again after restarting the app, it works fine.

Could you check a few things:

  1. When this happens, is the order of songs in the playlist also reversed? Or that stays how you want it?
  2. Does this happen only with a particular set of earbuds, or other Bluetooth headsets as well?
  3. Most modern earbuds have an app where they can get firmware updates, check if there is any such update pending for the Sony ones.

Keep me posted. 🙂

Hello Amay,
The playlist itself does not change, just that the play order is reversed.
So, let’s say i had listened to the first ten songs in my list in the order
as they are in the list, and then connect my earbuds, the play order
reverses and the next song would be number 9 in the list, then 8, then 7
etc.

I just have the one pair of earbuds, to replace my old Sony headphones
(which didn’t have this issue when i would connect).
So the earbuds are very new, and i have done all required app and firmware
options i was prompted to do.

The earbuds are model WF-1000XM5.

Kind regards ,
Jonas (apparently i also can’t personalize my user name in the account
settings on an iPhone)

Hi @1149324923,

Thanks for your reply and for the info you provided.

It's odd that this is happening. Would it be possible for you to check if it happens with any other Bluetooth device? Maybe a speaker, if you have one.

If not, then let's start by trying the following:

  • Completely unpair/forget the Bluetooth earbuds from your device's settings. Then restart your phone and connect them again.
  • Clean reinstall the Spotify app by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose saved content.
  • If possible, try connecting the earphones to another mobile device and check if you can replicate the behavior on Spotify. It can a relative or friend's device.

Let us know how that goes.
