Solved!

Playlist Radio is being removed from the context menu

In March 2023, we're removing the Playlist Radio option from the playlist context menu. We'd like to hear your thoughts and feedback about this change in the comments.

FAQ

Are we removing the whole radio feature?

No, we are only removing Playlist Radio. Track/artist and album radios will still be available.

Do we have features where users can have a similar experience?

Yes, right now we have the enhance button or the recently rolled out smart shuffle to give recommendations based on user-created playlists.

Honestly, this is the only way I listen & find new music. PLEASE keep Playlist Radio!

What a terrible decision that added nothing while taking away useful features. Why do y'all do this all the time at Spotify? You removed playlist radio, yet replace it with a feature that does something different. It's not a replacement, it's a different feature. Why can't users be allowed to use both when they want and listen to music how they want? We're paying for the service, yet users get no say, input, communication, or anything when y'all change or add features.

This solidifies the decision that I've been thinking about for awhile - going back to using a dedicated audio device and putting all my tracks on there manually, and not paying for spotify any longer.

Has anyone found another service that offers the same function?

I liked making a radio based on my playlist because my playlist is a lot more varied than just one song. Sad this is gone, I hope it comes back. I think we also used to be able to create a 'similar playlist' based on another playlist. That was almost the same, bring one of those things back.

WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE THIS FEATURE?! I USE IT ALMOST EVERY DAY! 😭

This sucks. Bring back the playlist radio. I just spent an hour making a playlist to set the vibe for a radio station and now see that the radio option had been removed. Premium Subscriber for YEARS. I'm bummed.

My Playlist Radio feature still works on Windows 7.  When I load the software it says my Operating System is out of date LoL !

Spotify isn't the only software that complains about my OS.

Spotify for Windows 1.2.5.1006.g22820f93

I like to get things started on the PC using Playlist Radio through my Google Home Group, then grab the days history and add it to a playlist of it's own for the next time I use Playlist Radio.

I can keep adding history to that playlist as long as I want.

One nice feature is that Spotify won't add duplicate songs without warning you, so the resulting playlist can be very long with no repeats.

It is very sad that Spotify removed the Playlist Radio feature from newer versions and it's need to be brought back.

Thank goodness I can't update the version I have on my PC.

@ Argus_Vidicon  Bro. That's a great tip! I'm going I'm going to start adding my Playlist Radio and History to new playlists. That way, if the app gets messed up I can still listen to these songs when I'm out. Thanks & Cheers!  🙂

But why? For what actual purpose? Spotify cannot justify the majority of its changes now and it's starting to get really bothersome. Shift the whole thing back to 2019 UI and the user experience would be so, so much better.

I have been super bummed about the song radio/playlist radio being removed. It was the best way to discover new music that was similar to what I already had curated for myself. It made it so easy to play from.

I would love if it came back.

thank you

It's been more than 6 months since the feature has been removed and I still have no explanation on why Spotify took this incredibly weird decision... Since more than 6 months I probably listen 2 or 3 times less to Spotify. My monthly playlists are almost empty while I was discovering TONS of news songs and artists everyday thanks to this feature, and creating monthly playlists with up to 100 songs. There are no features that enhance or even at least replace what the Playlist Radio feature was providing to users. What could have possibly happened in the heads of the ones at Spotify suddenly deciding to deprive their users from a good feature that was working so well? Nothing but disappointment 😞 😞 😞

Hate it, bring it back. No, your alternatives don't do the same job, either better or even equal.

I really, really miss the playlist radio and am wondering why it has been removed. Please bring it back!

Is anyone actually listening?

No. They don't care

how is taking options away improving spotify?

They are busy trying to disable smartshuffle

😂It's so annoying to try to turn off, and Impossible using the "car thing"

BRING IT BACKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

My playlists are carefully built up. They fit exactly my preferences, for several moments.

But they are limited, and might get repetitive.

That's why 'playlist radio' was so great.

They I saw something like 'Make similar list', which was also good. Now it DISAPPEARED too...

Now there is only this 'smart shuffle'... which is really a VERY POOR substitute. Most of the songs are still my songs, so repetitive.

TOTAL FAIL. It is amazing how a gigantic company like Spotify can read user's needs in such a CATASTROPHIC way.
