In March 2023, we're removing the Playlist Radio option from the playlist context menu. We'd like to hear your thoughts and feedback about this change in the comments.
FAQ
Are we removing the whole radio feature?
No, we are only removing Playlist Radio. Track/artist and album radios will still be available.
Do we have features where users can have a similar experience?
Yes, right now we have the enhance button or the recently rolled out smart shuffle to give recommendations based on user-created playlists.
Hi folks,
We can see that this thread has been getting a lot of attention, so we wanted to jump in and explain that we’re often testing and launching improvements and new features in order to provide our users with the best listening experience. This sometimes includes sunsetting older features in order to make room for new ones. While Playlist Radio has been removed, Song, Artist and Album Radios are still available and serve as valid alternatives.
As always, we'll continue to listen to user feedback, refine and introduce more ways for our users to easily search and stream the audio content they love. In the meantime, there's an existing idea about bringing back Playlist Radio, so feel free to add your vote to it, if you haven't already.
Take care.
This is an awful, horrible, no-good decision. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, bring this feature back.
Can we please bring this back, it was my most used feature. Smart shuffle is nowhere close to as good.
Okay so the "Playlist Radio" is gone. The "Enhance Button" also is gone. "Smart Shuffle" just works on own playlists. "Recommendations" just work on own playlists. So everything's gone or doesn't help.
The Spotify community forum seems to be a honeypot, a place where people can raise their voice and feel better and then just get ignored by Spotify.
Exactly what it is. Absolute clownshow of a company
I’ve subscribed to Tidal since Spotify can’t get off their ass and offer Hi-Res audio. This plus removal of features like playlist radio move me more in the direction of moving away totally from Spotify. Listen to your paying customers while you still have us.
Just had my spotify update to remove this, smart shuffle is not the same at all, bring back playlist radio before I go back to pandora
This was a bad move. Please bring it back. There is no other way for individual users to get a radio station based on a selection of songs of their own choosing. Who cares if I can make a radio station based on one song or one artist? This is basic AF, and one dimensional. The ability to listen to new music based upon a variety of my own choosing was the best feature of the Spotify platform. Please bring it back!
I wouldn't even want it now anyway. They'd probably shoehorn their shitty ghost artists in there and make discovery impossible. I basically only use spotify now for my own playlists I play in the car and if my wife wasn't using our family account for playing music at school I would've cancelled this service a long time ago.
Bring back the playlist radio feature! Smart shuffle or enhance are both useless features and is not a replacement for playlist radio.
Was looking for this function.
Get it back please!
Why would you remove good features. Tech company's are farking clueless these days
Why did you remove this option? This was a way to actually make a radio station with variety, as opposed to often genre specific radio that results from doing it off a song or artist. Major bummer.
Bring it back!! Playlist radio was the best!
There's no better way to find more music to expand playlists. I developed playlists over years and years by adding songs that came up while listening to playlist radio, and the playlists would always get better and better. Bring it back please!
Please bring this back, I miss it. none of the other "similar" features are as seamless. Playlist-based radio was a great way to discover new music in a curated fashion & grow playlists.
The moment this got removed, I automatically started experimenting with other music providers; I'm ready to drop my Spotify membership, so are my friends and some colleagues. What's the point of using a service for years when they can just rip out core features that users have been relying on since the beginning? Yeah, I get it Spotify's an unofficial monopoly in this space for now, but not for long. Some of my tech bros are currently reverse-engineering this bloated client using the API, to create thinner, cleaner, more optimized clients with features like this baked in; yeah they have to store the records in their own cloud DB's, but they've had enough with this bs. I'm dipping my feet into coding with AI as well, and I'm getting promising results because getting any results from this company is pretty much a nonstarter at this point.
Fun fact: the Spotiy Windows app is a glorified Chrome instance.
I am sad. I love playlist radio feature. That was the main way I discovered new music and developed my playlists. The smart shuffle feature isn't the same. BRING BACK PLAYLIST RADIO PLEASE!
Bring back radio from playlists!!
Any chance to have the playlist radio back? Enhanced playlists isn't the same, sadly. It was a great tool to discover new artists.
Not a day goes by where I don't wish this feature was back. ""smart"" shuffle and "enhance" are nowhere near as good, and don't even fill the same niche of discovering new tracks that playlist radio had. Stop taking away every possible way to discover new music, why do you want us listening to the same songs over and over so badly?
Bring back playlists from radio please! I still miss it often, the other functions don't replace it
