Playlists no longer show an indication of "liked" songs. Is that by design?

Playlists no longer show an indication of "liked" songs. Is that by design?

For years -- 10 to be exact -- I have managed playlists by clicking on either a heart or an "add to liked songs" button, then adding those songs to existing or new playlists. Recently that has been changing. Currently there is no "add to liked" button, and no indication that a song is "liked" other than right-clicking on the song and seeing the option to "remove from liked songs". If this change is by design, then it's a bad design. If not, how to I restore that functionality?

Hey @rwhtx,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

In the desktop app, the button to "Add to Liked Songs" (or the (+) sign) should be displayed next to the song's name in the now playing bar or if you hover the mouse over the tack list when listening to an album, playlist created by someone else or from the artist page directly. If you have the track added to a playlist, you'll have a green checkmark instead of the (+) sign that when clicked, it displays the list of your playlists including the Liked Songs.

If you don't have this button, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device. In that case, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article.

Additionally, the app doesn't currently have a symbol to differentiate which song is added to a playlist and which one is added to the Liked Songs. If you want to show your support for this feature as well, we'd recommend adding your vote (by hitting the thumbs-up button) to this idea.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.

its almost 2025 and there is no way to view which songs are from my library vs a random playlist like does no one save songs anymore?? And why is this community its own thing like what is the point of having an app and not include this into it??? Can’t wait for this post to get 0 interaction either like Spotify just made this whole community and no one uses it unless they’re forced to because of how poorly the nonexistent integration is… shoutout to anyone who does read this tho!

Came here trying to find an explanation for why I can't tell if I "liked" a song anymore, because the indicator also means the song is on any of my playlists. I use playlists as tags (because Spotify does not support tags despite years and years and years of people asking for the feature, but the futility of this forum is always the excuse that not enough people want the feature). So I have many playlists with tons of songs on them, because as I come across songs, I categorize them into various lists. This is totally separate from whether I "like" the song. I need an indicator that ONLY means "this song is on my Liked Songs" list.
