My Question or Issue

I'm noticing some of the features that lured me to spotify have disappeared. One of my favorite features was the "Never play this song" there are a few songs that I loathe and put me in a bad mood as soon as I hear them. I used to be able to mark them to never play, but that feature is gone.

Another is the radio feature for android. Playlists are fine, but they tend to play the same songs over and over. I like using the radio feature so I can hear songs that I may not have heard in a while. It's incredibly frustrating to click go to artist radio, then be given the option for shuffle play, then to hear the same songs over and over. You can't shuffle play a radio station, the songs should be continuous.

Hey @mistycroberts,

Thanks for reaching out and posting in the Community.

The app currently has a Hide this song option that works in a similar way to what you want. It block the selected song from playing in that playlist on the current device. Keep in mind that every time you start a radio it counts as a newly created playlist, so it's possible for a song you've hidden to come up in a later iteration.

As for the songs in your radio repeating - could you make sure that the repeat option in the now playing is tuned off? You can find a detailed guide for shuffling and repeating here

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted how you get on.

you misread my statement. It's not that there are songs repeating on the radio feature, it's that the radio feature has completely disappeared from the android format.

The songs that keep repeating are songs in my playlists that I've created, it seems like spotify has picked it's own favorites from my play lists and plays those the most frequently

Hey @mistycroberts,

Thanks for getting back to us and describing your situation with greater detail.

We're sorry for the misunderstanding. Cases like the radio feature disappearing are most likely caused by the app files getting damaged. A simple fix for this is to perform a clean reinstall using the steps in this guide. This way all necessary files get built anew from the group up, just be sure to also restart your device. This step is important, but often overlooked.

If afterwards the issue persists, it would help us out a a lot with getting to the bottom of this if you test whether all radio types are unavailable - generated from artist, playlist, song. How about when you log in with another account or on another Android device?

Regarding the repetitive songs in playlist - perhaps arranging a play queue would help in this case. You can learn more on how to manage the queue here.

Hope this helps, we'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

I followed the instructions for "Android - versions before 6.0" I have Android 10. There are no instructions for above android 6. I did it three times.

However, the radio feature is still missing. there are "playlists" called "radio" but they are not radio, as they have a "shuffle play" button.

Hey @mistycroberts,

Thanks for posting and for the troubleshooting you've done so far.

Note that the first sections in the clean reinstall instructions refers to devices with Android 6.0 or above, but the steps are almost identical to the ones you tried out.

Could you let us know if you can replicate the issue with another device or another account? We'd appreciate it if you include in your next post screenshots of what you see at your end when you open the context menu (the three dots) on a playlist or song. It'd be great if you also post one of the radio-playlists you mention. You can use the Attach Photo option in the post editor, just make sure to hide any private or sensitive info.

Keep us posted and don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions!

I've deinstalled and reinstalled your app many times. I'm sorry, but it's your job to make sure you app is working properly. I'm an IT professional. I get $35 and hour to troubleshoot android systems and different apps. I pay your $15 a month to ensure I get to listen to music the way I want. You've changed your app, and now it does not work the way I want it to. Please restore the radio feature on android systems. The radio feature isn't even an option on the home page like it is on desktops. Also I would like the "never play this song" feature returned.

now I can't even get the radio feature to work on my desktop. It only gives me finite playlists

Hi @mistycroberts,

Thanks for the feedback.

The Radio feature is currently available on Android. You can turn it on when you click the 3-dot menu and select Go to Song/Playlist/Artist Radio. Also you can Hide songs from your recommendation on Android Playlists like the Your Daily Mix, Release Radar and Discover weekly and choose Do not play this on artists that you don't want to hear.

Regarding the Radio option generating finite playlists. When you play a Radio on desktop you'd see a number of songs in the playlist, nevertheless when the last song finished a new one should start automatically even if it wasn't previously .

Hope you find this info useful.

Everything you stated in your last reply is exactly what I'm saying is not happening. I don't have time to go through and take a bunch of screenshots, transfer them from my phone to my desktop so they can be uploaded here. Even the radio on the my desktop has stop functioning as you say it's supposed to. they all offer finite lists. I have several monitors on my PC so screenshots are a PITA. Like I mentioned before, I do IT for a living, I get paid for what you're asking me to do.

I have an idea, because I really want to get these features to work, If you give me an email address, I can more easily send the pictures you want to an email, than to upload screenshots here
