There should be an option to prevent certain podcasts (or all podcasts) from appearing in the Spotify-created playlists, and suggested podcasts on the frontpage. I don't want to see NPR when I go on to Spotify.
I apriciate the fact Spotify has payed hundreds of millons dollars to get exclusive podcasts and want to promote them, but please do that for non-subscribers only since it is them the spamming of home screen is meant to "lure" into subscription. And for subscribers have a separate tab for podcasts like deezer has. I personally have moved on to deezer from Spotify for all the pod-spamming on home screen where I only want to see music since music is what I use a music streaming service for. Another reason for not using Spotify anymore is the lack of HiFi option (and yes I am one of those who only "imagine" it sounds better 😉 ) I do miss Spotify algorithm suggesting music for me though, but the spamming for pods was too much for me so not even your superb algorithm was worth it.
Look, I understand that as a company you have invested heavily in podcasts, and you want to see immediate returns. My major qualm with the way you are doing podcasts, is the LACK OF CUSTOMIZATION and paired with the priority that seems to be given to podcasts by appearing first on the homepage, it feels like they are being shoved down my throat. You can do as you please with podcasts, but at least give the option to either alter the suggestions that are showing up on the home page, or to switch them off from the homepage completely. I have always absolutely adored Spotify Connect, the cross-platform support and especially the algorithms used for music discovery; however, I feel that I have been strong-armed into giving up on these and instead look towards Apple Music for music. I have been a premium subscriber for years, but at this point I'll have to port all my playlists to AM and only return when/if your execution of podcasts has changed. What I don't get is, if you love podcasts so much why not just make a separate app for them and emphasise them as much as you want...I mean it's not like you don't already have other apps already.
I agree with above about podcasts taking over my discover page which are entirely not what I want from my customized library. By removing of podcasts I never want to see again I'll feel more in control of what I feel is appropriate for me. It would certainly make Spotify a more user friendly place for a premium user.
Please let me remove or hide podcasts. I don't listen to podcasts - at all, ever. It's all just pointless clutter to me. Imagine actually paying a subscription to use an app with such limited customization.

In the past couple weeks I am getting a podcast called A Day which is not even English language everytime I ask Google to play What a day. Doesn't matter how I ask. Would really like to get the new podcast out of my life.
Even with the unfollow it stays in my timeline and appears with a blue dot. So those ... should have an additional function delete.
It's been more than a year and still nothing. "we're always trying to improve" I guess you just ain't.
I've unsubscribed to a podcast or 'unfollowed' it and it still exists in my timeline as one of the new with a blue dot ones. What is the purpose of this? It's as though it's been permanently subscribed to. I feel like a kid who can't erase history of my misdemeanors. Is this some kind of parental control? I'm sure it's also a way of nefariously keeping subscriptions up for really poor products for the casters. Not a useful tool for my wasted time.
Still stuck with the totally un-customisable daily drive list... it's been over three years now. I love the idea, and I'm not opposed to using this medium to discover new podcasts. It's just ridiculous that I'm having talksport hit or some meditate for climate change podcast chucked at me. These are topics I've never shown a slight bit of interest in, and the fact I have to skip them 15s at a time in the car due to CarPlay not letting me skip podcasts by the episode is infuriating.
I'm even fine with it suggesting alternatives if I say 'I don't want to listen to this podcast'. It would actually improve the analytics for Spotify, and mean they could discover which low-quality podcasts people don't like.
It's a shame, I've now stopped using the daily drive because of this.
You are talking about songs and the feature is completely different for podcasts, which is what this info thread is supposed to be addressing.
Completely agree. The podcast algorithms in Spotify are horrible. They know this. They can prioritize the fixes in the app. This one is not important to them. Usability for podcasts is just awful in Spotify.
I'm stuck with this app for my family's sake but I will no longer be listening to podcasts on Spotify. It's such a basic feature in other podcast apps that you get to choose your own feed and can easily curate it. Spotify just keeps shoving podcasts down your throats from people who pay them to do so.
