Shuffling my Liked Songs is real slow

My Question or Issue

I have a very large collection (37k songs) and sometimes I like to shuffle through it. It takes a really long time for this to start playback on my phone. Any plans to work on this? I don't know how important a use case this is.

That's a very impressive set of tracks, nice! Now, bear in mind that having very large playlists might cause delays in playback or performance in the app. That being said, we can look into it. Have you noticed if this happens only when shuffling that specific playlist? Does it only happen when Shuffle is on or do you have same delay when playing the playlist in order? Also, does it only happen on your phone? If you haven't checked, try listening to the playlist on a different device. It can be a relative or friend's mobile device. You'll just need to log in for a moment and give it a try.

On another note, you can try clearing the app's cache by going to Settings > Storage > Clear cache. Then restart your device and try again. Additionally, make sure you have enough free space on your device's storage to improve the performance of the app.

Upon reading your suggestions I've tried the following, all after clearing the cache on my phone:

- Playing my Liked Songs on shuffle on my desktop (started right up)

- Playing Liked Songs in order on my phone. This takes a really long time, and so does loading Home when Liked Songs is playing, whether in shuffle or in order. 

- Playing Liked Songs in order and in shuffle on my wife's phone (Galaxy S25, Android 15). This took a long time to load. Once I started playing, the transport controls in the Now Playing View became very slow to respond. The shuffle button did not respond at all.

Well, even though the playlist size might cause this, other factors can affect the performance of the app. In this case, we recommend performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. No worries, you won't lose any saved content, but you might need to re-download your offline music. Additionally, you can try freeing up some space on your device.

Nevertheless, if that doesn't work, we recommend splitting your large playlist into smaller ones. We're aware large playlists can cause performance issues and we'll make to pass the feedback to the team in charge.
