My Question or Issue

I am currently using the free version of the desktop app, I usually don't have any problems playing local flac files but recently this one flac file just won't open up in the app no matter what, can someone please tell me if there is something wrong with the file? the file opens easily in other apps like VLC and groove music. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there @Shouto2007,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.

.FLAC files are not officially supported, even though some of them work, based on how you've downloaded the file and if it's copyright protected (Ensure the files aren’t DRM-protected. We’d recommend reading this interesting article to find out how). The official supported file formats are .mp3, .mp4, and .m4p files. Spotify doesn’t support .mp4 files that contain video, or the iTunes lossless format (M4A). So if nothing else works, you can try to change the format of your file to .MP3.

Another reason for a .FLAC file not to work might be an outdated codec pack, so I'd recommend updating your codecs.

Hope this info helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.
