My Question or Issue

When I listen to song X, then add other songs to the queue, and let them play until the very end, song X then stays on the "now playing" bar at 00:00 and shows up on Recently Played. Nothing wrong so far.

My issue starts when, later, I hit play on song Y. The song X shows up a second time on Recently Played, instead of just being skipped, even though I only listened to it once. Same happens when it's album or playlist X, and then play song Y: the first song of the album/playlist shows up twice on Recently Played.

This gets worse when I keep adding songs to the queue and skip song X (because I only really want to listen to the other songs). Song X shows up multiple times on Recently Played, when I didn't listen to it at all those times.

This is affecting my algorithm, because those specific songs rank higher on my Top Songs, when I didn't listen to them that much.

I'm only having this issue on the Spotify app on my PC; the mobile app is working fine, as far as I know.

Hope I was able to explain myself clearly, and that this problem can somehow be solved.

Hi there @filipea113,

Thank you for taking the time to post here in the Community. Let's take a closer look into this.

To start with, can you make sure there's no old cache files causing this by following the steps that's provided in this article.

If that doesn't do the trick, would you mind providing us a recording of the whole process and Recently played?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

Have a great continued weekend!

Hello! Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, the article didn't work. So, as asked, here is a screen recording that I think illustrates my issue well:

Hey there @filipea113

Thanks for sending us this info.

We tried this on our end, but we couldn't replicate it.

In this case, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If this doesn't do the trick, would you mind logging in to your account on a different PC to check if the same happens? This would help us know if the issue is device-related.

Keep us posted.

Here's my attempt at it. The issue is still present on macOS 14.6, Spotify för macOS (Intel), 1.2.43.420.gc7b23f70

It always happens when I do it like this.
