Spotify Daily Mix changes multiple times a day

Spotify Daily Mix changes multiple times a day

If I exit out of the playlist and reenter, the daily mix will change. If i exit out and reenter multiple times a day, it changes multiple times a day. This is only happening on a new laptop I got, this did not happen on my old laptop or my phone.

This is still happening to me. Every-single-time I play a song from a playlist the underlying playlist changes completely. I am not understanding how this isn’t a P1 issue.

This is crazy as it consume data constantly

I want my daily mix for the DAY and not a new one every time I open the app. Fix this is really target to data consumption

I've noticed this has been happening to me for weeks now and while I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue this is making it practically impossible to even listen to Spotify. I don't have unlimited mobile data so each morning before I go out I download the Daily Mixes I want to listen to. By the time I get in the car less than 10 minutes later it wants to re-download the mix and it will often delete songs I've already downloaded so I can't listen to them. This is absolutely ridiculous and not how Daily Mixes should work at all. I want one mix each day, not several - especially when I haven't even had a chance to listen to what I downloaded that morning. This needs to be fixed. I love having Spotify but this is making it unusable.

This  has been happening to me too, for the past few weeks. It’s shuffling so often I keep listening to the same songs over and over.

I think it might be time to make the switch to Apple.

The daily playlists should reset every day instead of at what feels like random. This includes song content and order. If it changes all the time, they aren't really daily playlists.

This is happening to me also and it’s very annoying. It didn’t start happening till a few weeks ago. Before that, my daily mix playlist used to last all day. Now it’s changing every couple of songs. It’s incredibly frustrating and makes me want to cancel Spotify.

Given Kiril's reply, I think they want to consider this a feature and not a bug.

I've canceled premium because there are better ways to listen to music out there. If I wanted to not know what song I was going to hear next, I'd go with Pandora.

I'm also having the same issue. I've seen it change before my eyes multiple times...

I usually play through AndroidAuto (in my car) and my earbuds... But I'm not sure if that is a factor. I was hoping the list would change every 24 hours.

In the recent weeks, I've noticed that the way daily mixes play has changed significantly. Whereas before the playlists all changed at one set point and otherwise stayed the same throughout the day, they're now drastically changing at seemingly random intervals, sometimes while I'm listening. This has resulted in me hearing the same song multiple times. It's incredibly frustrating, both for the previous reason, and because I like to use the daily mixes to discover new music. I keep seeing songs lower in the playlist that I look forward to hearing, but they never play because the playlist changes itself for no reason. Why is this happening? I need it to stop.

This seems to be a new, terrible, update. My daily mixes are refreshing every few minutes, so the same songs get repeated constantly.
Having the same song repeat every third or forth song forces me to keep opening the app to manually change what I’m listening to, which defeats the purpose of a mix.

I have lately been experiencing something similar when I listen to my daily mixes using the Spotify Windows desktop app.

When I play a daily mix and shuffle is turned off, it appears that the order of the songs in said mix is changed and that also affects the songs in the queue. That leads to me listening to some songs twice during the daily mix playback.

Today I thought it may be because the mix run its daily update whilst I was listening to it. To test this I switched to a different daily mix and about 10 songs later, the order changed again on that mix too.

Assuming that all of my daily mixes are updated at the same time, this looks like a bug

Hi folks,

We'd like to look further into this. Could you please share the following info:

  • Your device's make, model and OS version.
  • The version of Spotify you're running.
  • The exact name of the affected playlists (ex. "Daily Mix 1", "Daily Mix 3" etc.).
  • Date and time (including your time zone) of when you noticed the latest update.

Once we have these details we'll forward them to our tech folks so they can investigate further.

Thanks and cheers!

Thanks for checking in. It does look like the mixes are shuffling rather than adding new songs (sometimes hard to tell as the mixes are quite long) - which I think is deliberate (although not sure why - it's confusing and frustrating). Other people may have different experiences. If I notice new songs being added during the day, I will let you know

Yordan,

This happens to me on my personal windows 10 computer, my work windows 10 computer, and my Android phone.  So, I don't think that the make and model would have impact.  And on desktop, I'm always on the latest software, since it updates automatically when I open it.  As for names of playlists, it's ALL the daily mixes and usually any radio station either from a song or artist that I go to.  I think it's a very broad issue.

Hi Yordan,

I just tried to reproduce the changing playlist behavior, to create screenshots and demonstrate that it was actually happening independent of whatever device I was using, but it seems to be working as I expect/hope.

On three different devices (Windows, iOS, macOS), the playlist is the same, and doesn’t change if I like or unlike a song then browse around the app. Or if I close the app and open it again. Which means I’ll be able to go from computer to car to computer and I’ll get to hear the whole, same, expected playlist. I had no idea this meant so much to me, but I feel so relieved.

I’m on trying this on a non-premium account, but will resubscribe to confirm this over time.

Can other people check to see if their experience is improved, too? I suspect, and am hoping so.

The issue is no longer happening for me.

This just occurred for me again, here’s the requested info:

  • device: iPhone 14 Pro ios 16.3.1
  • Spotify version: 8.8.22.517
  • Daily Mix 1
  • April 11, 2023 1:08 PM CST

This sounds like a runaround request.  It happens to Daily Mixes, PERIOD!  All platforms!  ..and it is DAMN annoying.  I've currently got 3 Spotify windows open on my desktop now, organized the queue to match the list to hopefully be able to match up things to add to personal lists after I've listened to them and the Daily Mix just went and shuffled itself, which it has already done at least once prior.  The lists shuffling themselves multiple times in a listening session for a DAILY mix is just ridiculous.  STOP it already, on ALL the platforms.

This makes Daily Mixes practically worthless for actually finding and listening to new music as you can't go back and reliably figure out what you just listened to.  It would be one thing if Spotify kept a list of the things recently played, but if that exists I have NO idea where to find it.  That would be another possible solution, give us a running list of the last 50-100 songs played (although I would really like to just be able to listen to the Daily Mix in order and have the option to shuffle it IF I want like I can w/ any of my other lists).

I do see where recent plays exist in the app, but it's not helpful that the latest entry for me is the Daily Mix playlist itself.  That is less than useful.  ...and I can't find the option to see the history at all on the web app.  So, even that "feature" is inconsistent and not as useful as one might hope.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the info 🙂

We've passed this on to the teams investigating this issue.

Cheers.
