My Question or Issue

Listening to playlists or albums on repeat will skip the first song on looping back. Skipping the last song in the playlist/album will loop back to the first song as intended, but letting it loop on its own will skip to the second song. This happened on both my phone and my computer. I'm not sure if there is some setting correlated to this or if there is a bug going on, but it's a little frustrating

I have the same issue in the Spotify iOS app. I tried deleting/reinstalling the app but it still skips the first song when it repeats, so this is an issue with Spotify itself.

Hi there @maedays and @rdub76,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please provide us with a video of this behaviour? That will greatly help us investigate this. Also, since when has this been happening? What Spotify Versions are you using?

We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

Hi,

This was happening on iOS version 8.7.90 and the version just prior to this release. It was happening for about a week. I am using the Spotify app on my iPhone 12 running 16.1.2. I reached out to Spotify support, and they set up a test account. When I tried entering the username/password, I got an error message, I then logged back into my Spotify account and now the issue is resolved. This is strange because yesterday I uninstalled/reinstalled the app, logged in, and the player was still skipping the first track when on repeat. Thank you both for the quick responses and excellent support. I love Spotify and the app has been excellent for years! I'm happy to see that the support is on par with the Spotify experience as well!

This has been happening to me too! And it happens on desktop too. It seems to be a recent glitch now I see that you reported it too. I closed and updated the app and shut my computer down but it is still happening. It also happens on my phone and I use IOS or iPhone XR.

Hi there @carlowesome,

Thanks for the post.

I tried this on my PC and mobile apps, but when the Loop is active, the first song gets played on every playlist I tried.

This could be an account related issue. I'd suggest trying to log out everywhere and back in, in order to force sync your account with the servers.

Let us know if the first song still skips after that.

Logging out seems to have fixed it for me! I've been dealing with this for days, so thank you!

Hey @maedays,

Thanks for the reply.

Glad to hear that the log out helped 🙂

Cheers!

I've been having the same issue with albums. Each time an album finishes and loops back to the beginning it skips the opening track for some reason. I've tried what was suggested here (uninstalling both on mobile and desktop and logging out everywhere) but it hasn't seemed to have worked.

Hey @Supertartory,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please share links to the albums this happens with, so we can try to reproduce the issue on our end? Also, is it possible to ask a friend or a family member to log in on your devices and check if the issue persists?

Keep us posted.

@MihailY, at the weekend, I signed out from everywhere from my "Account" page, and this seemed to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the bug appears to have reared its ugly head once more. I am seeing the problem with this playlist on macOS and iOS. Let me know if you want any more information.

Hey @purinkle,

Thank you for providing the link!

We'd recommend to try to log out from the app itself to see if you'll still experience this. Go to Settings > Log out

We'll be on the lookout for your answer and we'll see what we can suggest next. Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you in the meantime.
