Tesla have just announced they are discontinuing the Spotify account included with the car. So I am going to sign up for a premium Spotify account in my own name. Currently the car has its own Tesla sub account which cannot be opened from anywhere but the car. Is there any way to transfer this car playlist to a separate Spotify premium account on a phone or laptop so I can then share it back to the car's new premium account when I sign up for it? I am in New Zealand, but this appears to be a global issue
Solved! Go to Solution.
It’s so weird. My friend don’t have the same issue apparently. He can still use the account via Premium Connectivity. He even gets a banner that says “update you account within 44 days to keep listening” haha
Someone here that has ha workaround to how to go past the pesky QR-code and enter the car’s built in account for Spotify? Without actually scanning the code because that don’t work it wants me to sign in to Spotify
I am going to o wait for the update when the free version Spotify is apparently available. your friend may want to just let the days countdown!!!
I just got the update reversing Tesla account to free only (more than a month early!) and proceeded to pait the car with my personal premium account (using the car screen QR code): the procedure wax declared successful by Spotify BUT I LOST COMPLETELY MY CAR PLAYLIST (no transfer).
Hey @RAMOLET,
Did you connect/migrate the vehicle account to your own email address? The playlist is still on the vehicle account, but obviously doesn't get transferred to a different account automatically.
Hi,
I have a Tesla and free spotify account. 1st of december the Tesla will lose entitlement of Spotify premium. I have many songs in the favorite folder of the Tesla Spotify Premium app. I would like to transfer these songs to my free Spotify account, and after I would like to listen these songs in my Tesla with new Tesla Spotify free app and after maybe to premium Spotify account. I have installed the up-to-date 2024.38.7 software of the Tesla.
How can I do this transfer process step-by-step?
Thanks for your help
Tibor

It is Dec 2nd 2024 and I upgraded to Tesla Sw 2024.38.7 yesterday. The upgrade notes say I have now reverted to Spotify Free account. Displayed are both types of QR code on lauching Tesla Spotify (My own spotify account and/or Vehicle Account). I have tried both. It tells me I should be connected now to spotify but screen shows 'Loading' continuously. I check using my spotify account. When I use my mobile phone to access my account it shows Premium Individual and refers me to Tesla. When I logon to spotify from my PC it shows I have 'Spotify Without Subscription' account. I believe there to be a conflict now after 1st December and Tesla have not updated something. This is causing the continuous loading screen on Tesla. Any other experiences/hypotheses? Thanks Gary
UPDATE 16h CET: Spotify still loading since this morning, so rebooted Tesla Screen again, clicked spotify app and received screen with QR Codes, used camera on mobile phone selecting QR code "I have a spotify account "(not vehicle), logged into spotify which now shows Spotify FREE, (not Premium Individual), accepted Tesla request to use, and spotify loaded this time. All OK at my end.
I have the same problem, and I wasted three hours three with Spotify account who were unable to fix the problem.
QR code brings me to my empty account, that I have updated to Premium for nothing, as I don't have history, likes or playlist created in my two+ years of Tesla account owner.
How can we fix this?
Hello Giuseppe18
Your post is not clear as expressed. There are two type of Premium Account. Tesla Premium that you pay Tesla each month (navigation etc) and Spotify Premium for which you would pay Spotify a monthly subscription. If you don't have Spotify Premium then the only Spotify Account you will see on Tesla is Spotify Free. Following my post you need to register for a Spotify Free account and choose on the Tesla "have Spotify account" Do not choose Vehicle account. If you have Spotify Premium do the same. That is link Tesla to your Spotify Premium Account. Hope this helps.
Gary
Is there any ways to get the vehicle playlists onto my Spotify account with 2024.44 ?
I tried login in with my Spotify account, no sync/no transfer.
I tried login with a newly created account : same result....
My car favourites are lost forever?
Sadly I think you may have to reload them
I couldn’t access them on my free Spotify account so ended up adding them to it (I didn’t have many so it was not a big job)
someone else may have a solution though
good luck
Hi Spotify support
I want to transfer Tesla car's playlist account to my Spotify account.
It used to have the option to log in and transfer car's playlist to my Spotify account.
But after a few day the car was updated and this option was gone, please help.
Best regards,
Danai
Hey @danaile,
Thanks for coming to the Community.
Could you confirm if you had added an email address to your Tesla Spotify account before December 1st/2nd? That was when the account was set to revert to the free service, as communicated by Tesla on October 2nd.
If you haven’t yet, you might try scanning the QR code on the Tesla screen (even if the instructions suggest otherwise) to see what options are available. This could help you add an email to the account.
Should you encounter any issues with this process, it would be best to contact Tesla Support directly via this link. They should be able to assist you further.
