Why is there a clean version of Static-X Cannibal but no explicit version

Solved!

Why is there a clean version of Static-X Cannibal but no explicit version

I am unable to locate the Explicit version for Cannibal and a few other songs/albums. I remember a long time ago there used to be a toggle so you could switch between album versions, but this appears to be profile wide now. My profile is set to allow explicit content and I can see other explicit content just not for some albums/songs.

Does this mean that for some stupid reason Spotify didn't get the rites for the explicit version?

Hi @jpohlsander,

Sometimes artists upload a clean version and an explicit version of an album as separate releases. You can check if an album has several releases by scrolling down to the bottom of the album page on the desktop app / Web Player:

Note that the availability of these releases may vary over time and between countries. This depends on permissions from rights holders.

In any case, I checked the versions of the song from both releases and it looks like both aren't tagged as explicit and have the same lyrics. If you'd like to listen to the explicit version on Spotify, it's worth reaching out to the band or their label on social media or their website and registering your interest. In the meantime, if you own the album, you can import it as local files to your Spotify library.

Cheers!

I was referring to the entire album and not a specific song in the case of Cannibal. But I guess you have answered my question. It's just not available.
