My Question or Issue

Last night I was downloading a bunch of files (mp3s) and editing them with capcut. Then earlier today I found out about local files, so I sent them over to my phone and moved them over to spotify but only the files I didn't edit with capcut would show up in the app, then I edited the info, then I downloaded another raw file (this one was an hour/180 mb) but neither of these worked, so what do I do/how do I get them to work?

Hey @pokyStudios, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

Firstly, I'd suggest using official sources for downloading these files. If the files are not from official sources, Spotify cannot guarantee that they will be usable with the local files feature.

Regarding the bigger files, it may take longer than usual for the app to process or sync them. You can try turning local files off and on again and wait for a bit so they are visible in the app.

The same goes for files edited using any third-party app. I'd recommend not to use any such editor that could restrict the file from appearing in-app.

However, if the files were obtained from official sources, you can try the following:

  1. Make sure the files are MP3, since it is one of the most commonly used extensions. By default, the Files app on iOS does not show file extensions at the end of file names, such as ".mp3". You can make the Files app show file extensions by tapping on the options menu button at the top right. In the menu, tap on "View Options" > "Show All Extensions". That way, you can double-check the format.
  2. Check if the audio files you added to the Spotify folder in the Files app were moved to a "Synced files" folder.
  3. Go to settings in the Spotify app and toggle "Local Files" off and back on to refresh the app, so any newly added tracks can be synced.

I am also linking the official local files article here, you can check it out. Please let me know how it goes. 🙂
