how do i delete a deleted podcast episode from my playlist?

how do i delete a deleted podcast episode from my playlist?

You know how when you go to add a song to a playlist on mobile, you can see how many songs and podcast episodes are in a playlist? I added a podcast episode to my playlist a while back, but it recently got deleted. However, when I go to add songs to that playlist, it still displays the podcast as being in my playlist (87 songs, 1 episode when it should just be 87 songs), but I can't manage to delete the deleted episode from my playlist. It just bugs me that the two don't line up.

Hi there @oseanagi,

Thanks for reaching out.

If by "deleted" you mean that the podcast episode is not available anymore, then the episode will remain inside the playlist but will just be unplayable. If you want to remove it, go to the app settings on whatever device and toggle on the setting to show unavailable content. Then, you'll be able to see the greyed out episode in the playlist and can remove it from there to correct the listing at the top.

Hope this helps.

Where‘s the setting to show unavailable content I cannot find it I only find the setting for hide unavailable songs and I already clicked the button but I still cannot remove the  deleted episode

Hey @Stellalili,

Thanks for reaching out. We've merged your posts here so we have all the info in one place.

Are the episodes still visible in the old playlist after you've enabled Hide unplayable content? If yes, send us a screenshot and try removing them from a different device (preferably a PC).

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

ls it humanly possible to actually totally DELETE an episode so that it no longer appears on any list and takes up zero space ... so aggravating😡

I turned on show unavailable content but the deleted episodes still aren’t showing up greyed out on anything. Is there actually a way to make them show up enough that we can get my playlist tallies correct again?

The episodes still aren’t visible after turning on show unavailable content. Our problem is that we want to see this unavailable content so it can be clicked on and removed totally. As of now it’s just clogging up final tallies with ghost content 😕

Same issue. I have a playlist and I added a podcast episode that was removed. I would like to remove that episode like how I can remove unplayable songs but it doesn’t show up at all. Yet it is still being counted as a ghost track in my playlist. Spotify please fix this at least allow me to remove it.

I turned on hide unplayable content but the episodes do not show up on my playlist. What should I do?

Hey folks,

Try using the desktop app or the Web Player instead, as @MihailY suggested to see if the episodes would be visible there. If you're unable to remove them via right-click or from the three dots menu, check if using Delete/Backspace on your keyboard does the trick instead.

Hope this helps! Cheers 🤘

This does not work either. I have "show unplayable songs" on in my settings and the deleted podcasts still don't show up. I check on the mobile app, desktop, and web player, but all three don't work. The podcasts are just not visible, so you can't delete them.

Hi there folks,

Thank you for the replies.

We'd like to investigate this one deeper, so could you please provide us some screenshots of the exact song numbers and songs you see in your playlists? Also show us if the podcast episodes actually appear in the lists with Unplayable Content made visible from the settings.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

I am also experiencing this issue. A bunch of months ago I've added an episode to one of my playlists and I suppose that it got removed by now.

While I'm adding or removing anything from this or other playlists I can still see the number of songs and "1 episode" which is simply annoying.

Switching the "show unplayable songs" setting on my phone (iPhone) doesn't solve the issue and on my pc and on the web player I do not see such option, checked a few times.

I really don't know what to do with that and I would love to get rid of it. Hope the screenshots shed any light on what I'm talking about, if it makes any sense (hope so  ).Screenshot 2025-05-11 at 00.35.48.pngScreenshot 2025-05-11 at 00.38.26.png

I have been facing this exact problem with a couple of my playlists for a very long time..spotify better introduce a feature to view unplayable or deleted episodes inorder to remove it from our playlists.
