not all of my public playlists show on my profile

Solved!

not all of my public playlists show on my profile

Hi there. I have a lot of public playlists but for some reason not all of them show on my profile. I can only see the same 5.

I noticed the problem and then made new playlists and I still can't see them under my profile and neither can other people.

I can see all my playlists in my Library but I would like to share playlists with people and they are having trouble finding them

Hey @GertMinnie,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

It's worth mentioning that even if you've got pubic playlists (not private) they'd be hidden from your profile unless you make this change, but they'll still be accessible by users that are following them.

With this said, you'd have to make sure to add the desired playlists to your profile so they appear when someone visits your profile. You can do this via the mobile app, the desktop app, as well as from the Web Player.

Just go to the playlist you'd like to display > click on the three dots > Add to Profile (this option will not be available if the playlist is private).

Hope this helps and we're here if you've got any other questions 🙂

My Question or Issue

So, for the last month or so, none of the public playlists I have made have been showing up to other people. On my side, it shows that they are public and they are on my profile when I go look. But, for some reason it won't show up on my profile to other people. I've made some playlists I made earlier this year public that I kept private before and for whatever reason those playlists will show up on my profile. So it seems that after a certain date (which I don't know), the playlists I make don't go on my profile but the ones made before do? I'm really confused about what I should do and what is going wrong.

I haven't been able to publish a playlist for a while now. However, when I share them, they can't be found in the search bar or on my public profile.

I've made a couple playlists I want my friends to listen to, but they can't see any of them. When I try to make a playlist public, nothing shows up for me to do so. Why?

Hi @ThatHoodieGirl, thanks for reaching out!

My first suggestion is that you add those playlists to your profile. If you're using the Spotify app on a computer, right click on the playlist and then click on "add to profile". Also, make sure there's an option saying "Make private" which means it's already public.

Hope this helps!

Some of my playlists will not show up on my profile, no matter what I do. I have selected "add to profile" and they show up on my profile on my end, but if any of my friends go to my profile all they can see is my old playlists. I have tried removing them and adding them again. I have tried deleting them and recreating them all together and nothing seems to be working. Any way to fix this?

Hey there @MadelineGrace_24,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

Since you mentioned you're using a Chromebook, we'd suggest you clean the cookies, cache and browsing data of your browser if possible. By doing that, you can make sure no stored cache is leading to that behavior. Make sure the browser is up-to-date as well.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • Does this happen if you use a different device to add playlists to your profile?
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update?
  • Does this happen when trying to add a specific playlist to your profile or does it persist no matter what playlist you try to add?

Keep us in the loop!

Thanks for your response @AlejaR!

I tried clearing my cache and cookies like you suggested which signed me out of Spotify. Upon signing back in, nothing changed, and my friend said she still can't see my playlists even though they're displayed as public on my side of my profile. To answer your questions, my Chromebook is the only device I use Spotify on, so I'm not sure if it would be different with another device. I'm not sure if it began to happen after an update, but it's been like this the entire summer. Playlists that were displayed on my profile before the summer are still displayed but if I try to create or add any new ones, it works on my end, but nobody else can see those new playlists.

Appreciate the cooperation @MadelineGrace_24 🙂

You did mention having the playlists set to public and added to your profile, but it's worth toggling these settings and then repeating the correct ones to test it'll make any difference. It's also worth checking out the info in this help article just to be sure you've got the correct options selected.

Give these a try and let us know if your friends are able to see your playlists.

It'd be great if you could also test on another device as suggested by @AlejaR.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

Hi, I tried signing in on another device and everything was the same, except for when I went to try removing and adding it back to my profile the only option was "unfollow playlist". There was no "add to profile" or "make public" option on the phone I signed in on. These are all my personally made playlists, but it almost looks as if I'm following someone else's playlists, and so unable to display them on my profile. I don't know why this would be, as I've had the same Spotify account for the past four years and only began to have this problem this summer. I tried just removing all my old playlists from my profile and my friend said they were all successfully removed, she couldn't see any of them, and then I tried adding four of my newer ones that haven't been able to be displayed on my profile and, same as always, I can see them displayed on my side of my profile, but no one else can see them.

Hey @MadelineGrace_24,

Thanks for the reply!

Note that you should get the 'Unfollow playlist' option only when selecting a playlist that is not created by the account you're viewing its options from. With this in mind though, I think I can share some insight into what's been happening here -

Chromebooks should only be able to run the Web Player version of Spotify (via the web browser) or the mobile app, installed from the Google Play app store. As the Web Player has more limited functionalities, only the 'Add to profile' option is available there but not the playlist's public/ private settings (linked above by @Ivelina). If the privacy is not set to public, then adding to the profile won't visibly do anything for outside viewers.

What I would suggest is using the Play Store Spotify app on the Chromebook. Make sure you're logged in with the correct credentials, navigate to a playlist you've recently created and select it. When selected, open its three dot menu and scroll down to locate the 'Add to profile' and 'Make public' options.
Note: When these are enabled, the menu will say 'Remove from profile' and 'Make private' instead 🙂

Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙌🏼

My Question or Issue

exactly what the title says. i have about 19 playlists on my profile, but only 2 of them show. ive tried everything i can think of-- removing and adding them to my profile again, lowering the amount on my profile, removing podcasts, etc. im making a new thread because ive checked so many posts about this and none of them have helped.

was there maybe an update that changed something? because the only ones that show are the first two i made.

im on desktop web and cant download the app, so i dont have any setting to make playlists public either. does anyone know how to fix this?

(also ive never used this before, so apologies if i did something wrong!!)

i am so stupid did i post this as a reply instead of a new thread

Hey there @comet413,

Thanks for following up! Apologies for any confusion, it seems like your post has been moved to this thread, hope you don't mind.

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you make sure so that the playlists are set to Public as well? Keep in mind that this setting isn't available on the Web Player, however. If possible, you can borrow a device from a friend or a family member, and log in to your Spotify account there to change the setting.

Once they've been made public, try adding the playlists to your profile again. It's worth noting that you might need to log out from Spotify and back in again for the account info to resync.

Hope this helps & feel free to let us know how you get on!

hello thank you for clearing that up!! unfortunately none of my family use spotify so i cant log in to make them public.. would you know if spotify ever automatically sets playlists to private though? because the first two i made show, and i didnt do anything different making the other ones.

Hey @comet413,

Thanks for the reply!

At the moment all new playlists are made public by default, so if you aren't able to download the app or log in on someone else's device to test out @Maria's suggestion, then I'd recommend the following workaround:

  1. Navigate to one of your playlists and click on the first song at the top to select it.
  2. Scroll down all the way to the bottom.
  3. Hold the Shift key on your keyboard and click on the last song - this will will select all tracks in between.
  4. Right-click on the last song and select Add to other playlist > New playlist. Now you have a snapshot of the playlist that should be set to public and you can delete the other one.

Let us know if you have any other questions, we're happy to help.
