"Add to playlist" button shows all my playlists with somehow random order (I guess it's puting first those I have added few songs recently to). Very frustrating to look for playlist that I actually want to add because once it's on very top, other time somewhere in the bottom. Can we have alphabetical orderd or smth like that in "add to playlist" window?
Hey folks!
Thank you for all the reports!

My Question or Issue
Hey, when clicking on a green tick next to a song it used to show the playlists that track was on at the top of the list of playlists. That has now changed, playlists have to be found further down. Is this a glitch or can it be fixed?
I also see a seemingly random order of playlists in the "Add to" menu myself as well after taking the latest Desktop app update on Windows 11. It used to follow the "Custom Order" of playlists that I had defined.
why arent the playlists that the song is already in all together at the top?
It was like that a few days ago what happened 😭?
Hey @Bowie1947,
Thanks for reaching out! We moved your post to the Help section, hope you don't mind 🙂
As this feature should still work as you've described, we'd like to do some troubleshooting here with you.
First of all, log out of the app and back in twice in a row. This will trigger a manual sync of your settings. Verify if the issue remains after this.
In case it does, try removing the app's cached data to see if that would make a difference.
Should this fail to help, you can install a completely fresh copy of the app by removing all Spotify-related data from the device. To see how you can do so just follow the steps here.
Note: Performing both of the abovementioned actions will remove any content downloaded for offline listening. It will re-download the next time you open the app, depending on your data settings.
Hope this helps!
P.S. If the issue remains, let us know what your affected device's model is, alongside its OS version and your Spotify app version. Much appreciated 🙌🏼
Hi there @helpmepleaseee,
Thanks for reaching out.
Depends on what exactly you mean by this. If you want to see where the song is playing from as you're listening to it, it says it at the top of the Now Playing field. Tapping the name of the album/playlist will also take you to it.
If you want to see which playlists a specific song is added to, this is also possible. If the song has been added to your Liked Songs or any other playlist, you will see the green checkmark next to the name. Tapping that will bring up a list of your playlists and show you which ones the song has been added to. From there, you can also add and remove the song from any on them as you see fit.
If you're facing any issues with these features, please let us know what the exact behaviour is and we'd be glad to assist you.
Hope this clears things up.
Hi, thank you so much for replying, I tried everything you mentioned and deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times but the issue is still there.
Im using an iPhone 11, iOS 18.1 and the Spotify version is 8.9.90.84
When adding songs to playlists, the playlists that the song is already added to used to show up first, at the top of the list. Now they are in a random order, which makes it harder to see what playlists the song has already been added to. There is the option to change the order to e.g. show the most relevant playlists first, however it would be more useful if playlists already containing the song generally show up on top of the list and the remaining playlists below.
