My Question or Issue

Album artwork is not appearing consistently within playlists. When I click on Edit , the album artwork is correct, but that’s not what it looks like within the actual playlist.

This issue is across multiple playlist and is not an issue on the webplayer.

Hi there @Dottie7,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help get the album covers back.

Can you let us know if this affects local files or songs in general too? If it's local files, then this is an issue we're already aware of and we're looking into it in this thread. Feel free to check it out and submit any relevant info you have there.

If the issue affects all songs, have you noticed any pattern as to which ones are affected? I.e. from a specific artist, specific album, specific position in the playlist, etc.? Consider trying to log out and log back in again twice in a row. This will force a resync with the servers, which should hopefully help load everything back in.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks. This isn't affecting local files — these are regular songs from Spotify's catalogue.

I haven't noticed a consistent pattern relating to a particular artist, album or position in a playlist. It affects different songs across my Spotify library.

The only album-related pattern I have noticed is that most of the songs from the NOW That's What I Call Christmas album in my Christmas playlist appear to be affected.

The main pattern I've noticed is that the artwork changes depending on which view I'm using. In the normal playlist view, some tracks display different artwork. However, if I select Edit on the same playlist, those same tracks display the correct artwork. The artwork also displays correctly in the Spotify Web Player.

I've now tried logging out and back in twice in a row as suggested, but the issue is still the same.

I've also previously cleared the cache, completely deleted and reinstalled the Spotify app, and restarted my iPhone, but none of these steps have resolved the issue.

Hi @Dottie7,

Thanks for the reply.

When you say it works on the web player, do you mean on the same iPhone or a different device? So we can get a better look of the exact behaviour, could you send us some screenshots or a video of the behaviour? If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos. Send us the link or URI of the album you mentioned to so we can see if there's any connection there.

Keep us posted.

Hi Joan,

Thank you for your response it’s much appreciated.

Yes, it’s from the same iPhone.

The screenshot below shows how the tracks currently appear in the app:

The screenshot below shows what it looks like in the Edit view:

This has occurred across multiple playlists , but only a couple of tracks here and there.

Thanks for the screenshots, @Dottie7!

Since this is happening with a playlist that you've created, I suggest trying to duplicate it to see if a fresh copy forces the app to show the artwork correctly. Just click the three dots > Add to other playlist > New playlist. Is there a difference?

If the new playlist still looks wrong, please make the playlist public (or create a temporary test playlist with the same songs) and share the link here. We can then also have a look on our devices.

Many thanks and we're here in the meantime if anything else comes up.

Hiya I’m unable to share a link, as the link above doesn’t allow me to.

Creating a new playlist hasn’t resolved the issue.

Hey again @Dottie7, and apologies for the confusion!

To clarify, you don't need to share the link inside that article. The link I shared previously was just a support guide to help you copy and paste links here in our thread.

If you're comfortable making your playlist (either the current one or the newly-created one) public, you can just paste its link directly into your next reply here so we can take a look. If you need any help making it public, here's our support site help article that walks you through the steps.

Thank you so much and don't hesitate to let us know if you've got any questions.

Hi Ivelina,

Sorry I misunderstood.

When I share the link it shows the correct layout? I’m not sure whether that will be helpful.

No worries @Dottie7 🙂

Yes, you can still send it over so we can also have a look.

Many thanks!
