All songs gone from phone and history lost

Woke up to 2018 with no songs on my phone and all record of artists and songs listened to gone. Only playlists remained. Previously I’ve had issues where songs cleared from my phone but remained in history so only required re-downloading.

Re-installing did nothing to resolve the issue.

Please help, I’m seriously considering Apple Music which, although not great, has yet to lose all songs according to friends.
