All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Solved!

All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Songs keep repeating on my apple watch even if I have shuffle on or off. I have to manually tap next. I have tried multiple different playlists from my watch during my nightly runs.  These are all offline downloaded playlists. This worked fine for years. I have uninstalled the app from my watch, reinstalled it, deleted the playlists and redownloaded them. Still the same

Hey folks,

As some of you already noticed, this should be fixed in version 8.9.96. It might take a while for the roll out to reach everyone, but you can manually update to get it sooner.

Cheers,

Hi Eva.

Thanks for responding.  I will restart the devices and toggle shuffle on and off, but I don't see anything about an "auto-play" setting on the watch.  Where can I find that?

Thank you.
Mike

Same here. Keeps repeating songs. Doesn’t matter which folder or playlist. After manually moving to next song, the app freezes. Looks like a bug in the watch app.

Same, but it's 50/50. Sometimes the song repeats, sometimes it doesn't.

Unfortunately, I'm dealing with this too. Started last week. The playlists are downloaded (only 20 songs each). I can see all the songs downloaded onto the watch. It will play two songs, then repeat those same two songs only. Sometimes it will repeat one song twice. To get it to play any other songs, I need to fiddle with my watch (while running), which really sucks.

I've rebooted the watch and the phone.

I've uninstalled Spotify from both the watch and phone.

I've uninstalled the playlists and reinstalled them.

I've taken off "shuffle" and "repeat" in case that was the issue.

I've been using this feature for three years and never had this issue. Please fix it!

I have this exact same issue. Songs will randomly repeat, sometimes they don't, but most often they do. Completely defeats the purpose for running.

It's a fresh install on a brand new SE2, no chance of an outdated version.

I'd be grateful if someone could post when it's fixed. For now I've switched over to Apple Music. I can't be babysitting my playlist in the middle of an interval run.

I suffer also from the same issue.

  • checked that the iPhone and iOS software or the latest
  • uninstalled Spotify and reinstalled and re-downloaded all my music onto iPhone and Apple Watch
  • rebooted devices
  • Toggled shuffle mode
    could not find autoplay
  • tested with fitness app running and without

iOS 18.1 (22B83)
watchOS 11.1 (22R585)

spotify 8.9.90.84

all this did not resolve the issue

I have been having the exact same issue for the last week or so. Never had the issue previously. I am listening to music from my playlist, either offline or online and then a song on it will play and once it has finished it will replay the same song. I manually have to click next song which is annoying and hard to do when i am running. It is intermittent, you might have 1 or 2 songs play and then on the 3rd song it will repeat, what i have noticed is if i dont skip the song once its repeated, byt the time it gets to the end of the song (second time playing) the app will hang.

I have removed and reinstalled the app and re downloaded my offline songs but the issue is still there.

I'm having the same issue here.  I have 1 playlist downloaded on my Apple Watch for runs that I listen to without any data connection, I leave my phone at home.  It's worked fine until just recently.  Every other song will repeat, so I have to skip to the next track, that one plays, but the one after will repeat and so on.  If anyone knows of a fix that works, let me know!  Hopefully this will be resolved in the next update.

Adding my $.02 to the choir. This started occurring approx. five days ago. Typically, two songs play from my 100-song playlist and then the second song repeats.

Lezen er op dit forum ook mensen van Spotify zelf mee? Het zou fijn zijn als er technici kunnen aangeven dat het probleem bekend is en er aan een oplossing wordt gewerkt..

Yes, me too! It broke recently and it's maddening.

Here's what is happening for me (similar to others).

  • song 1 plays
  • song 2 plays
  • song 2 repeats and plays to completion
  • music stops playing

I have to manually advance the song to get any music to continue -- then the process repeats again and again indefinitely.

I've followed all the steps Puffin12 listed above. I'm a Premium Family subscriber—this will force me to drop my Spotify subscription and move to Apple Music if it's not fixed quickly.

I have tried everything and nothing works. If this isn't fixed by Monday, I am dropping Spotify and moving to Apple.  Spotify already has limitations on the watch, but this is by far the worst part.  Where is tech support?

I have had the exact same problem as well , Apple Watch Ultra 2 - Noticed it about a week ago, it will play one song ( after I press skip , play the NEXT song , and then repeat the next song over and over until pressing skip , then the same issue will occur again ( not the best when riding a bike and being driven mad by same song ) Going to download longer dj mixes as a work around, but have updated to latest IOS 17 and latest watch OS on the AWU2 - this didn't resolve the issue, also deleted spotify and all downloads, and redownloaded, same issue obviously a reboot occured during the update

Issue occurs with or without bluetooth headphones connected

Yeah I have noticed exactly the same behaviour, hopefully it will be fixed asap

Do we know if this has been picked up as a bug by the developers?

I reckon it started about two weeks ago, I’m using an Apple Watch Ultra and iPhone 15 pro, I’ve tried uninstalling the app, reinstalling and rebooting Apple Watch, re-downloading playlists but still the same issue. I’m using the latest iOS, WatchOS and Spotify app versions.

Mine is an AWU2

OS 11.2 (22S5083e) but was doing it since 11.1

It has been about 1-2 weeks now

i have tried all the TS
