All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Solved!

All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Songs keep repeating on my apple watch even if I have shuffle on or off. I have to manually tap next. I have tried multiple different playlists from my watch during my nightly runs.  These are all offline downloaded playlists. This worked fine for years. I have uninstalled the app from my watch, reinstalled it, deleted the playlists and redownloaded them. Still the same

I've been dealing with the same issue for the past 1-2 weeks. I'm using an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and an iPhone 14 with a Spotify Premium account.

Whether shuffle is on or off, it makes no difference—every second or third song repeats, even though the app shows a different song "up next."

I've tried everything: deleting and reinstalling the app, recreating playlists, and disabling Playback > Automix and Autoplay similar content. None of it works. I've wasted hours troubleshooting, but after reading this thread, it's clear this is an app bug.

As a paying customer, I'm beyond frustrated. Goodbye, Spotify.

Further to my last comment I am playing songs from a downloaded list!

Great job, but I think that is to much work for me. I will use Apple Music until it is fixed.

Maybe it helps if more people write a review in the AppStore. I wrote one. It takes one or two days before it’s visible. Spotify should release a fix or should put the older version back on.

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with Spotify offline playback on my Apple Watch Series 10 (GPS + Cellular) running WatchOS 11.1 (22R585). The problem occurs when playing downloaded playlists in offline mode.

Issue Description:

When I play a downloaded playlist:

  1. The first song plays without issue, and sometimes a couple of subsequent songs also play.
  2. Then, playback stops, and the app fails to play the next song in the queue.
    • The pause icon is displayed, and the timer shows “-0:00” as though the last song is still playing.
  3. Occasionally, a song will play twice before playback stops.
  4. To resume playback, I must open Spotify on the watch, navigate to the "Up Next" queue via the middle button, and manually select the next song.

Testing Scenarios:

  • During my run: The watch was in offline mode (Wi-Fi and cellular disabled), and only my Shokz Bluetooth headset was connected. I did not have my iPhone with me during this time.
  • At home: I repeated the test without the running app (Runna), and the issue persisted, confirming it wasn't app interference.

Device & App Details:

  • Watch Model: Apple Watch Series 10 (GPS + Cellular)
    • Model Number: A3003
  • WatchOS Version: 11.1 (22R585)
  • Spotify Version on Watch: 8.9.90

Additional Information:

I didn't have my phone on my during these issues

  • Phone: iPhone 13 Pro (not used during the issue)
    • Spotify Version on iPhone: 8.9.90.84 (latest version from the App Store)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Download a playlist for offline use on the Apple Watch.
  2. Disconnect the watch from Wi-Fi and cellular (offline mode).
  3. Play the downloaded playlist with a Bluetooth headset connected.
  4. Observe playback behavior as songs finish or attempt to transition to the next in the queue.

I hope these details are helpful for diagnosing the issue. Please let me know if you need further information or if I can assist with testing.

Thank you!

Same thing is happening to me. The issue is just on Spotify on the Apple Watch. Each song repeats. Has been happening for over a week now.  Has this been fixed yet? Is very frustrating.

Same issue here. It’s been happening for about 2 weeks now. Songs randomly repeat no matter which playlist is being played.

My Question or Issue

When I download playlists or albums to an Apple Watch, and play directly from the watch without a phone nearby, the downloaded songs will often play twice in a row. This occurs with most songs but not all on any given playlist or album.

This results in having to manually advance the song via pressing the next arrow in the Spotify watchOS app or on my AirPods every 3-9 minutes. This becomes extremely inconvenient on a long run.

I have tested this with the new Linkin Park album as well as my Release Radar playlist.

Can anyone confirm they also experience this?

Is there a fix?

If not, can we get a bug report going?

I just posted a Seperate thread thinking this was a new issue related to offline downloads. I'll add my data here:

I have this issue using only an Apple Watch Series 6 (watch OS 11.1) with no phone attached or nearby (long runs without the phone)

FWIW my phone is an iPhone 15 Pro iOS 18.1

I'm on Spotify version 8.9.90.84 on iOS.

Its not all songs that repeat, but most of them. I'd say 80%.

It started probably about a week ago. Maybe a bit more or less.

I thought this was related to downloaded songs on the watch, but it appears that's not the case. Might be a red herring.

iPhone 13 Pro Max

Apple Watch Ultra

Spotify iPhone app version: 8.9.90

iOS Version:18.1

WatchOS Version:11.1

Also reproducible on Apple Series 7 (WatchOS 11.0.1)

I am experiencing this too when playing songs from a playlist that have been downloaded to my watch. It plays two songs and then repeats the second song. I manually advance and then it does it again (plays two songs and then repeats the second song).

  • This started happening between 1-2 weeks ago.
  • I have auto-updates on so I don't know if this happened just after an update, but the App Store says the latest Spotify version came out 1 week ago, so that tracks.
  • Apple Watch Series 7, model MKH73LL/A
  • iPhone 12, model MGF93LL/A
  • Spotify version 8.9.90
  • iOS version 18.1
  • watchOS version 11.1

I also have this issue. I tried to post a detailed response with what I've tried, etc, but a forum glitch ate it. Spotify, this is a P0 bug for all of us with Apple Watches, and I will be switching to Apple Music soon if it's not fixed.

I have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 (watchOS 11.1), and an iPhone 15 Pro (iOS 18.2). The problem started in the past few weeks for me, which seems to be the case for everyone else here too, so it's a bug in a recent software update.

I am getting the exact same issue over the last 7-10 days. I have deleted and reinstalled Spotify on my watch but it issue still persists. Very annoying.

Spotify's Apple Watch developer is sweating bullets right now 😂

I have the same problem. I reinstalled the app but nothing changed.

It’s kind of startling how disengaged Spotify support is on this thread. Not feeling the love for sure.

Same issue with downloaded offline playlists.
First track played plays normal and goes onto next track.

second track plays twice then playlist stops unless manually pressing next. Which causes the same repeat process.

Apple Watch SE / iPhone 12 with Spotify 8.9.90

I have the same problem, and tried various standard recommended solutions without suuccess - just like you guys. Worry about that I can’t find the error among the pending cases registrerad with Spotify…

Same issue. Started 2 days ago. Updated to latest iPhone iOS and latest Apple Watch iOS. Restarted/unnistall/reinstall several times....nothing. VERY ANNOYING! I have an iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 9 (GPS).

Please rectify, it's driving me crazy.

Quick update, i have contacted Spotify support and recreated the issue for them. They are creating a support ticket but have asked me to contact apple. I wont be doing that as i cant see how it is an apple issue.

Just want to confirm if these issues are occurring to users on on Apple Beta OS or the public main releases
