Allow an option to stop and close app

Allow an option to stop and close app

Spotify sometimes starts playing when the other social media has no audio so both apps run at the same time and the auto is bungled. Could you add an option to stop (square button) and close app (hold the icon down) to completely stop the app instead of turning off the phone to get Spotify to stop playing

Hi there, @thq5twdv56ge3cbt83vg,

Thanks for reaching out!

Is Spotify running in the background when this happens? If so, swiping it away on the app's preview in the multitasking panel should close it completely. Also, have you noticed this behavior only when listening on another device (connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, for example), or is it also present when playing directly from the iPhone?

In any case, it's worth performing a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any potentially corrupted cache and ensure you're running the latest updates. Should the issue persist, sharing a short screen recording which captures how things look on your end would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers 🤘

Thanks, Yordan! - Even after swiping left it opens randomly. Also starts playing randomly. With new phone update voice control sometimes starts on its own as well even when I’m not saying anything. It hears something from the song.

Not connected to Bluetooth or WiFi - playing directly from phone

Have taken your advice and since factory reset-set my phone, re-installed Spotify to latest version, cleared cache files.

While on the desktop app have since found a lot of my playlists were set to public when I specifically set them to private and nothing is visible when I click on my profile. This only shows on the desktop browser. I went through and changed them all yesterday. Any idea why that might have happened? Thanks for any thoughts you may have

Hey @thq5twdv56ge3cbt83vg,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

That's an odd issue. Since some of the behaviors that you mentioned (changes from private to public, playback starting by itself) could be related to someone else using your account without your permission. So in this case, we'd also recommend signing out everywhere and performing the security process mentioned in this article under the section "Still have access to your account?"

If the issue persists, remember to include in your next response a video where we can take a better look at the issue you're reporting as @Yordan previously requested.

We'll be waiting for your response.

I agree, Oscar and thank you for your comment. I changed the password on my account a couple days ago. Yesterday found the playlists via desktop were set to public which I hadn’t noticed before. Is there any other way to determine if someone has access to my account even after signing out everywhere and changing my password? Please and thank you

Might there an option for devices connected? Someone had previously been checking another social media account of mine and would log in from their phone when I wasn’t logged in via a phone. Had to change my account, all my settings etc.

Also on Spotify some songs were hidden from one of my favorite playlists. I didn’t hide any of them.

I’ll provide a video of whatever I can as both you and Yordan suggested. For a lot of the items it happens sporadically; songs start playing randomly, playlists have in the background changed their setting, but I’ll do what I can to send a video next time something odd occurs.

Hey @thq5twdv56ge3cbt83vg,

Thank you for your message.

At the moment, the only way to determine if someone else is using your account, is by the behaviors mentioned in the previously shared article. Also, if someone has been checking your other social media accounts, we'd suggest removing the access to unknown third-party apps by going to your account page and selecting the option Manage apps.

However, if the issue persists after this, since this seems to be account-related and we don't have access to users' accounts from the Community, we'd recommend contacting our internal teams by following the "Message us" link mentioned in this article.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
