Apple Watch bug- can’t change saved playlist

Apple Watch bug- can’t change saved playlist

Apple Watch Ultra 2 user

Latest Spotify version in my iPhone 12

 the app worked perfectly until the heart icon changed to the new ticking way as on the computer,web,iPhone.

on the watch I trying to saved the song instead playlist to my liked songs and the menu seems get stuck

(PSB attached)

 on my phone it’s working without any problems. I tried reinstalling the app on the watch and reboot watch and the iPhone.

EDIT 13.4: all the app responds well and all the playlists i have can be seen without problem, i suspect it's due the amount my large liked song playlist (around 35K) seems the DB and the app not liked each other. when i play song that not in any place the add button worked well.

Hey @PurpleFan,

Thanks for reaching out.

Having that many liked songs can indeed cause issues, so we'd recommend moving a portion of those tracks to playlists and checking if the issue still persists.

Keep us posted.

But if the library is able to hold this on the iPhone app and Mac and not limit me, why do I need to do this change?

It used to work before a few updates, so check your side!

Hey @PurpleFan,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this. We'd suggest you perform a reinstall of the Spotify app on your watch, to see if you notice any difference regarding this behavior.

We understand that the suggestion we've mentioned above is not ideal, but it's important to mention that we can't guarantee that would do the trick, as we're aware that having a large Liked Songs playlist can cause performance issues on some devices.

We understand where you're coming from, and we really appreciate your feedback. We'd suggest keeping the app and your device up-to-date, so you don't miss any developments.

We'll be here if anything else comes up. Once again, thanks for the feedback.

it's really shame that this is the only solution you have same as all the changes you recently add to app and you seenms never listen to ppl that pay you every month!

even after the new update that was yesterday on the app store the issue not resolved!

come on spotify! you are the worst company!

@AlejaR

you are the worst company ever!

i not believe i need to fight here for stupid bugs of this apps!

really i think everyday to cancel the premium

Hi @PurpleFan,

Thanks for the replies.

During this time, we have continued to investigate this issue but have not had much success so far. Nonetheless, rest assured we'll keep looking into it and will provide updates if and when we have them.

For the most part, we're simply unable to reproduce this behaviour on our end and that's why there hasn't been much progress. This leads us to believe that, at least in your case, the issue is account related as originally suspected. If possible, please try and log in on your watch using a different account, especially one with a more reasonable library. If the issue doesn't occur, then the most likely cause on your end remains the very large number of liked songs you said you have. Different devices process Spotify data differently, so it would seem that the Apple Watch struggles to handle so much content and this leads to the issue you have.

We strongly recommend you downsize your Liked Songs significantly by redistributing them into playlists, this will definitely lead to better performance for you overall. Be advised of course that a very large number of playlists can be just as problematic as the large number of Liked Songs, so keep the number of those manageable.

Hope this clears things up.

@Joan

you can take my account and try to repo the issue, but it's not so hard to do it with your test accounts.

anyway i still trying to figure out what the best way to fix the amount of the liked songs. it's may be the reason - but if so:

1. why you removed the 10K limit?

2. i can understand the watch can't provide me the full 35K liked songs, but he can show at least 50 first songs or something, or at least give me the option to liked the song, this all what i need.

@joan

waiting for your reply

still waiting

still waiting!

Hi @PurpleFan,

Thanks for the reply. You still haven't let us know if you've tested using a different account on your device and see if the issue still occurs. If you haven't, please try and do so. You can use the account of someone you know or make one yourself.

Keep us posted.

@Joan

let's see i will try to do it, but how much amount of songs i need for it? also 36K?

it's really bad idea! you really don't have any other explain?!

@Joan

i'm not SW dev but i think the best option to resolve it it's update the liked playlist code on watch app to show/sync only 50 first songs and this might will do his magic to resolve my issue, not? you think it's possible to do it?!

Hi there @PurpleFan,

Thanks for keeping in touch.

As mentioned, we haven't been able to reproduce the behavior from our side. This means we first need to try all possible troubleshooting steps to get to the bottom of the situation. Once everything is done, we can check if this is something we need to report so the team in charge can investigate.

So we can continue with the process, please try using a different account. It can be a friend or relative's account. There doesn't have to be any specific number of saved songs. Log in and check if the app on your watch behaves the same. This will help us know if this is related to your large Library, or if it's maybe something specific with your account. As some issues can be account-related.

Let us know how that goes.

On seems it’s really because the large liked song playlist i have, can you now please proceed with the suggestion i gave? its really sucks to use this app when you have such a problem

@Susan_GP

Hi @PurpleFan,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you let us know what exactly you tried and what the results are? Did you manage to try with a different account and had no issues with that one?

Regardless, it all goes back to our initial proposition that, given that we cannot reproduce it in our environments, the cause of the issue is the number of liked songs. The solution here would be, as previously suggested, for you to downsize this list as much as possible. Redistribute as many of them as possible into various playlists, ideally reducing the number to less than 10 000 at least.

Hope this clears things up.
